It's a layout... that I worked hard on. ^_^
----------------------------------------------------

I would give you an explanation...

Except I got a 5 on the AP chem exam and dont actually have to CARE about giving you a valid explanation ^______________^

BTW, there is no way that that equation is balanced... youve got 3Cl on the left and 1Cl on the right :o

Aren't you supposed to balance that shit or whatever it's called (my education was in french, so I wouldn't know the right term).

...

And I typed that before reading Kattwah's post.

God damnit.

Al(OH)3 + 3HCl -> AlCl3 + 3H2O.

Fixed it for you. Aluminum has three outer electrons, but chlorine has only one, so you need three of them for the equation to balance out.

oh god I'm such a nerd

doesn't help that I go back to school in 16 hours

Yeah I just quit working due to eyestrain and hunger.

The book gave that equation as balanced....

Don't trust books.

My teacher always told us to double check, as it may not be right.

The worst type of textbooks for errors are definitely history textbooks, though...

I don't think so. I always see at least 2 or 3 big errors in each math chapter.

See, that's just two or three. Usually I can find that many in just one map...

For example, my history textbook from last years' "Europe after WWI" map...
- Libya marked as French, when it was Italian
- The West Bank and Gaza Strip are clearly shown
- Denmark's post-war gains are doubled
- Alsace-Lorraine still German (definitely the worst of the bunch)
- Almost all of European Turkey is part of Greece or Bulgaria, except for Constantinople itself.

Not really. That's introductory balancing of equations. That's jack crap in comparison to actual Chemistry and/or organic chemistry.

As a start, diagram disaccharides. You'll start to learn how intimidating it can get.
