Super Mario Omega is a Super Mario World hack that I have been working on for the past two and a half years. Super Mario Omega features over seven completely new worlds, over seventy new levels and a total of one hundred exits. While making this hack I focused more on making fun and creative levels instead of making an epic story or packing it full of ASM hacks. Below are some screen shots of my hack and a trailer that I made for it about two months ago:

The IPS patch doesn't work. I am using ZNES 1.51, Lunar IPS to patch it and a clean ROM. The ROM shouldn't be the problem because I extracted it from the same ZIP file I've extracted the SMW roms I've used for all the other hacks I've played.

I also tried redownloading the file in case it got corrupted while downloading, I tried repatching it several times and still nothing. I get 'Bad ROM' in ZNES when loading the ROM and then it crashes.

I can see from the photos and the video that the hack is pretty awesome, so I wanna play

Yeah, I tried using it on SNES9xTYL. It just said the checksum was bad and then did nothing.

That's odd. I just tried downloading it and it worked fine. Bloodstar has also been able to confirm that the patch works.

Anyway I have re-uploaded the patch here. Hopefully it works this time .

Could you not just upload it to SMWCentral or something?

I kinda dislike downloading from mediafire...

I will look into this hack anyway once I get home from school today.

Nope, the IPS patch failed for me too. ZSNES 1.51, used Lunar IPS to patch the file.

It should be patched with Super Mario World (U) [!], right?

The patch that I linked to in my first post is on SMWC. The patch that I put on Mediafire is a second patch that I made hoping that it would fix the problems that some people are having...

Yes. I'm not sure why some people are having problems yet some people have been able to get the patch to work. I haven't had any problems with either of the patches so I don't really know what I should do to help resolve this...

It's not because of the patch, it's the ROM you are using. I had the same problem with a ROM I got from a collection (it was 512.0KB) but it worked perfectly for a different one I found linked from a youtube video (that was 512.5KB).

It looks awesome, I can't wait to start playing.

Confirmed: it is header-related. Just add one in SNESTool or something and go nuts, game will run then.

This might seem nitpicky, but the first thing that stood out to me that really bothers me is that some pipes, as well as your ? and other blocks, have pointy corners. That is, they are a perfect square. I never understood why people did this, they were never like that in the original game and it really does look terrible. Other than that I will give this a shot later, it looks pretty well done

Eh, I think people do that because otherwise it can look pretty bad when you have blocks next to water or the base of a pipe; you'll have some strange holes. I got used to it after a while but sometimes I have to go back and play the original just to get that organic feel out of the curves.

That or they're doing it to play with what jumps you can and can't make, because for at least the concrete blocks, each pixel matters.

That said, I added a header to my rom and applied the patch, and it's working fine so far. I'm gonna hang out with a friend and play this 2 player, so I should be able to give you some feedback in as long as it takes us to knock this one out.

I thought that ? blocks with corners fit in better since unlike in Super Mario World where turn blocks and cement blocks had rounded edges, the breakable bricks and switch blocks in my hack also have corners.

Also I added a header so hopefully there won't be any more patching problems.

Are you implying that a block's appearance also dictates its solidity? 'Cause that's not how it works at all...

Alright, yeah, it isn't reasonable at all for SMW to be doing pixel-perfect collisions in such a nonessential case.

I just thought I saw some examples of it mattering, but it's easy for me to have been wrong.

I have played a bit so far and I have been having quite a good time.

There are some things that causes frustration for the wrong reasons but... overall it's fun, and that's what matters really.
Will play more when I have time. (In the ice cave world so far.)
