So I finally got a working NES and I'm looking at my collection and it's pretty meh.

Any recommendations for good NES games that I should get my hands on?

Here's a list of games that I currently own.

I want to trade in some of those games to get better ones.

Games that I need to buy:
Crystalis
1943: The Battle of Midway
Little Nemo!
Marble Madness
Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers
Star Tropics

Some of my favorite NES games are:

1943: The Battle of Midway
Castlevania 1 & 3
Crystalis
Megaman 1, 2, 3 or 4
Startropics

Make sure to research them first though, just because I like them doesn't mean that you will (I tend to like a lot of games that other people hate ).

Little Nemo!
Marble Madness
Tetris (if you enjoy Tetris games)
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario Bros.

Those are the ones I enjoy playing.

^ I have all three of those^

Little Nemo!
Marble Madness

^ How could I forget Little Nemo! I loved that game when I was a kid.

Okay, I need to start making a list.

No offense, but... your NES library is pretty underwhelming quality-wise.

OK, off the top of my head, based on what I think you'd like (since I doubt you're in a "play a huge RPG on NES" mode, so bye-bye Dragon Warrior series)...

Battle of Olympus, Bionic Commando, Blaster Master, Bubble Bobble, Castlevania III, Contra, Crystalis, Duck Tales 1 and 2, Gargoyle's Quest II, Gradius, The Guardian Legend, GunNac, Jackal, Kabuki Quantum Fighter, Kid Icarus, Kirby's Adventure, Legendary Wings, Little Nemo, Little Samson, The Magic of Scheherazade, Mega Man 1-6, Metal Storm, Metroid, Monster Party, Ninja Gaiden 1-3, Power Blade, R.C. Pro-Am, River City Ransom, Rockin' Kats, Rygar, Shatterhand, StarTropics, Strider, Super C, TNMT 2 and 3, Totally Rad, Vice: Project Doom, Whomp 'Em.

And if you're going to go into a random game mode, then you should know that most games by Konami or Capcom would be acceptable purchases, especially for $5 or so.

(Oh, there's no such NES game as Viper, dearie. Code Name Viper, yes.)

Adventures of Lolo
Blaster Master
Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers (even has 2p co-op)
Ducktales
Goonies II
Marble Madness
Megaman 1 and/or 2 (I don't have real console experience with any of the others)
R.C. Pro Am (isometric car racing game)

This is all I can think of at the moment.
If you like graphical pnc adventures, try Deja Vu/Shadowgate/Uninvited. Though, once you beat them, there's really no reason to go back and play them again, except to go through the story again.

Now with 60% more chance of spontaneous combustion.
----------------------------
Blaster Master

Maybe a little very nintendo hard, though.

And Little Samson is better than megaman.

Shockwave, Tetris 2.

There's Super Turrican, but I don't know if that works on NTSC NES systems. Probably a bitch to get, too. :/

MM5 is pretty fun too, though.

Blaster Master is hard, but it's not like it's impossible right at the start. One of those games where you'll be much better off after you beat it the first time since you'll know where to go.

...Shockwave? Really?

Yes, Shockwave.

Fucking fun game. Takes a ton of thinking, but I adore it. I actually found some data for it, but I don't have the motivation to do much with it.

I never beat stage 43 in the past, unfortunately. :|

I should seriously map out some of these levels if nobody's done it before.

Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, StarTropics, Shadowgate, The Legend of Zelda, Bionic Commando, Bubble Bobble, Metroid, and River City Ransom.

I'd recommend Bubble Bobble the most out of these because it's so easy to pick up and play and is fun as hell, though I was really sad when I didn't see Zelda on your list!

Here are some of my favorites that haven't been suggested yet:

Little Samson (apparently hard to find)
Faxanadu
Paperboy
Abadox (hard as hell but still a lot of fun, incredible graphics)
Zelda II

And then others I have to emphasize:

The Guardian Legend
Gun Nac
Mega Man II
Jackal
Kirby's Adventure
Ninja Gaiden series

Operation Wolf, A Boy and His Blob, and Startropics are pretty fun to play for me.

Do you happen to want an extra copy of Bart vs. the Space Mutants? XD

The reason why I won't add Bubble Bobble is because I have it in my DS. I love that game and I played it so much when I was younger. But the more I think of it, I wouldn't mind playing it on a bigger.

Paper Boy I can just get on XBL if I really wanted to play it again.

And with so many people mentioning Star Tropics, I think I have to check it out.

As for any NES Final Fantasy game, I can get it on another system. I do want to buy the first Final Fantasy, but it's $50 dollars.

Do you happen to want an extra copy of Bart vs. the Space Mutants?
If you're offering.
