In direct contrary to The Most Bullshit Bossfight Ever. Post your favorite bossfight that you always look forward to while playing a game, whether it's cool and flashy or just plain fun.

For me, I'd say fighting the Shadow Lord in Final Fantasy XI, while around level 50 or 60 with a large party, is always a good time. The greatest part about it is that you can do it multiple times and you feel really accomplished when you first take him down and when you down him by yourself when you get your Rdm to 75!

I would probably also like to put Absolute Virtue on this list but we've only taken him down once and we've wiped every other time, which sucks because he's a lottery spawn after a small boss run...

Metroid Prime (both forms) - Metroid Prime
Quadraxis - Metroid Prime 2
Spider Guardian - Prime 2
Morpheel - Twilight Princess
Koume & Kotake - Ocarina of Time
Ganon - Ocarina of Time

I'm sure I have more, I'd just need to think harder about it.

Seconded, though I've played it so many times that I would never get hit by him anymore. Hell, I've beat him up so many times that I could play it now (many years later) and wouldn't have a problem.

The epic feel of the fight is what does it for me. You've just escaped the falling tower only to find that Ganondorf survived and transforms into this monster. And then the game pulls something completely unexpected and knocks away your sword leaving you without your primary weapon for the final boss. Just epic.

I'm sure there's been tons over the years, but the first one that came to mind was Kefka in FF6. Everything building to the final crescendo against Kefka himself... fantastic.

Lavos in Chrono Trigger is great too.

Giygas - EarthBound: Probably one of the most unique bosses ever when it comes to traditional RPGs, and definitely one of the most frightening of all. Of course, I got used to it by the second fight, but I can still appreciate the fight every time I manage to get that far.

Xemnas - Kingdom Hearts 2: This would be pretty much the entire string of boss fights he's in. Although it's sort of a blur now, and my interest in the series has waned, I remember this being quite an awesome bunch of fights.

Marx - Kirby Super Star: Out of every single boss I've ever faced, I can almost confidently say that this one has the most amazing set of attacks ever. Each one is distinct and memorable, but my personal favorite has to be his giant laser blast thing, if only because I love the face he makes when performing it.

Gomess - Majora's Mask: Probably my favorite boss in the entire Zelda series when it comes to design. The fight itself is nothing too special, but the concept has always been quite appealing to me.

Goht - Majora's Mask: The boss itself isn't that spectacular when it comes to looks or attacks, but the fight is just so fun. For those who don't know, imagine a racing game where the goal is not to get ahead of the other guy, but to ram him repeatedly. As far as I remember, this is one of the most enjoyable boss fights I have ever played through.

Now, I'm sure there are more, but I'd rather not play through my entire collection of games just to find out.

Now a little more seriously...

First place to me is 0² of course. What don't I have to say about it...

Odio (and all his incarnations) - Live-A-Live: That was the best final battle(s) ever.

Dark Gaia - Terranigma: Massive laser and the BGM suddenly playing the main theme to encourage you fighting a god that has been the cause of so much suffering and that you know that succeding will destroy you along with the remains of your world.

And I am DISAPPOINT very disappointed becouse nobody mentioned GIANT BABY BOWSER from Yoshi's Island.

I am disappoint in myself for never completing this game. It's one of my favorites and I've played it a whole lot back in the day but I've never gotten around to actually finishing it.

I gotta say, the Striders in Half-Life 2: Episode Two were pretty fucking awesome.
Once I realized I had to kill the Hunters before going after the Strider.

Oh boy. Final bowser from Mario 64 was beyond kickass at the time but it hasn't aged nearly as well as, say, Ganon.

Quadraxis seems like it's still getting my vote. God damn what an awesome I don't even.

But no one mentioned DARK LINK from either Zelda II or OOT. Come on, he just totally rocks you at your own game. You're all "I am such a badass" and then you realize you're NOT because Dark Link is TOO STRONG.

General Tor, I don't know, maybe I was just getting tired of Iji, but I didn't think much of him. Excellent song, though.

I really like Mecha Birdo from I Wanna Be The Guy. Unlike so many of the bosses in that game, it's got a really nice design that keeps you moving and always gives you opportunities to damage the boss. You know, a it's really important to a good boss fight that you can feel like you're making progress. Lots of bosses with long invulnerability periods are just plain less fun than they could be.

I kinda like Omega Weapon in FFVIII, just because it's on a totally different level from the rest of the game. You've got to bring your most overpowered, game-breaking tools and it's still mad hard. Also the attack it kills you with looks so awesome you can barely feel bad about getting rocked by it. Also Proof of Omega is the best reward in any game ever.

In FFX, the battle arena is incredibly epic. You feel like you should be able to break the damage limit AGAIN because these jerks have so many hitpoints. The Neslug is ridiculous and it's only the beginning. But... I guess it's not really that _awesome_, mostly just a great way to do optional bosses.

I love the boss design in Cave Story. The core and the undead core and ballos are all awesome fights. Each one manages to top what comes right before it; it catches you right when you're saying "this is as good as a video game can ever hope to be" and makes you look stupid for doubting what's left.

Cursed Leorina from Klonoa 2 is a fantastic boss fight. I don't even know where to start. It's just too good. Either you've played it and you understand or you haven't and you don't. Too bad the endboss was crap.

So yeah I think I'm going with the undead core from Cave Story as the most awesome boss fight ever. I might think of more though, who knows.

I've barely played Zelda II at all and I only have three words to say to the one in OoT: Megaton hammer, bitch!
