Umm...more than 30 mothers went into a Chick-Fil-A and breatfed their babies.

Sorry, but when I'm out and about, I don't want to see people breastfeeding their baby.

Me neither. It's a bit disturbing to me, and I'm sure I'm not alone there. If a mother really needs to breatfeed their baby, she can go to the closet or something.

I still don't consider breasts a big enough deal to be censored. Us men can walk around without a shirt on all we want like it's nobody's business but if a nipple bleeds through a tanktop after x-raying it in Photoshop, the woman considered a whore! (I know I'm exaggerating but still...)

Breastfeeding is completely natural and I believe that it's perverse to think otherwise. It's the healthiest way to feed an infant! Also, what ever happened to averting your eyes?

On the other hand, if it offends people (which it obviously does), then common sense should dictate that you stop before it gets out of hand, and I'm not only saying that about breastfeeding but about every other stupid thing that people do. Let's use Deadpool as an example here...

It's not so much the breasts itself (I can live with that), but the baby being breastfeeded in the public. If that kind of thing happened in a restaurant, I surely wouldn't have any appetite anymore.

Regardless, it's the most natural way to feed a baby at that age. Whatever happened to that song Just Don't Look?

There's really a difference between one person doing it ("Eh, whatever") and thirty (at which point it becomes why??).

Agreed. When you're shoving it down peoples' throats it's a different story. As I was saying with common sense, you don't make a spectacle of it otherwise people will hate it even more.

The issue is sort of a trainwreck as far as taboo goes.

For example, women can wear very exposing clothes, but they can't breastfeed. Men who wear no shirts are fine, yet men who go for the speedo/little to no pants option are 'gay.' (Well, not in Europe, but I'm speaking of America here.) As well, men are shown in commercials and rap things loaded with clothes while women seem to be encouraged to show off their figures. Yet if someone reversed this in an ad, it'd probably be considered 'disturbing.'

Truth is they just need to throw most of the expectations away, and people should be able to wear what they want, and it should be equal. Either men have to wear tops or both men and women can get away without it--it seems to be just a sort of cultural 'sexualization' of certain parts of the body which is to explain these strange clothing taboos.

But it can't be avoided altogether. It would seem the taboos go everywhere, including bathrooms and so on. The thing about keeping the sexes separate in various things seems sort of strange though. It's in mind to prevent 'improper behavior' which would apparently be promiscuity, but the fetishization of these things by covering them up seems to lead to more, not less promiscuity.

I could go on forever about this, but ultimately nobody's willing to legislate on the matter, and oftentimes legislation on the matter is more fail-worthy than de-facto etiquette, so... meh.

Well put, I couldn't have (and didn't, heh) said it any better.

From my experience working in the tourist industry I have learned that there is a wrong way and a right way to "feed da baby". Personally I don't mind it, I mean I glance at it and leave it at that. I do however have a problem with the people that just lay em out there for everyone to see. Be tasteful use a blanket...

there is nothing tasteless about breast feeding, and i dont see how your tenure in the tourism industry would inform you in taste let alone what women ought to do with their bodies

honestly i think obese people are a greater harm in the eyes of the tourism industry since their sedentary lifestyles make for dull sightseeing--an active populace actually goes outside makes for lively cities.
