And there won't be any. Not for the leaked build (7600). 7600 falls somewhere between RC1 and the actual RTM. This leaked version (7600) isn't the official RTM. The RTM ~~isn't~~ wasn't even finished yet, so it couldn't have been leaked at the time 7600 was.

I'm sticking with RC1 until the final version is available for *ahem* buying.

I'm pretty sure they've finished the RTM and shipped it off. The dev team announced it a few days after the leak.

I probably should have caught up on the latest news before posting. I was going off of the RTM that was posted in this thread a while ago.

I am still buying this product. (Albet Vista is going to be the source of it all. Either way I achieved a reservation for the Pro version for free. So $179 well spent. Too bad I won't use Vista for long.)

Although I am a poor sport and supporting the company in this, I for one disagree with 'cracking' the product. But to each their own I suppose. Not going to think of you any differently.

Hell I have done this with a couple of programs in my time. But now that I have the money, might as well feed the families of those responsible for making the products.

I don't think any operating system is worth that much, to be honest. If Windows 7 was $99 or less, I'd buy it no questions asked. But when you're already looking at close to $200 for the BASIC version....

Of course, if I was with Microsoft, I would casually release an "important update" for Windows 7 which would negate the key. Most people would be dumb enough to fall for that one.

If GC OS comes out, it's going to be ad supported, and you're not going to be having any programs; it's all on the mystical Google Cloud (TM) and you'd better hope you don't mind being tethered online.

Linux is made by people for no money. If something goes wrong? Oh well. There's no gaurentee they'll fix anything, and if you happen to be running an unsupported piece of hardware? Go fuck yourself. Not to mention the lack of standards and requirement to compile half the shit yourself, and the incredibly elitest support you get.

Windows might not be worth as much as they're trying to sell it for. $200 for an entire OS isn't terrible, though, when you consider it; you paid upwards of $400 for a PS3 and $300 for an XBox, and it costs upwards of $40-50 per game for those. $200 to do anything you want with, running any programs, etc, is hardly a terrible idea.

And, of course, you can always move an installation to a new computer if you upgrade or just upgrade your home system...

It just seems expensive because it's software and not hardware, but put into context it's actually pretty cheap.

Windows 7, unlike Windows Suckta, seems like a good buy to me. And you know how hideously cynical and angry and old man-ish I get around 'new vs. old.'

Although I have yet to check it out 100% (and won't upgrade my current comp due to my current comp not having the virtualization support 7 needs to properly do the 'XP simulation mode) I have confidence it could become the XP of the new generation.

For once, Microsoft actually responded to feedback.

But then again, we only got XP after we violently slayed ME with hatred too.

...

We should violently criticize M$ OSes more often!

Apparently, Microsoft is now going to include IE in 7 in Europe after all, and there's going to be a menu of some sort that allows users to easily install other major browsers, or something like that. At least that's how they proposed it to the European Commission, and they seem to like it.

That seems to be the best solution for most people, I think..
