Are you still getting the same error you originally had with Toad's Tool?

There are two 1.3 versions, 1.3b and 1.3.1b. 1.3b is only for windows and 1.3.1b is only for mac's. Which one did you use? The only time I had an error was, the time when I was trying to use messiaen's flat battle field mod patch, are you trying to use it? |

Hey Everyone,
Do you know how on Mario Kart 64, if you get a blue shell you shoot it and it hits a player (1st P). If you hacked the Spiny Shell's textures and so you could pick it up or something - like kick it - (in SM64) and added the behaviour of the 'lock-on' mushroom, but so that, instead of locking on to Mario, but on to the closest enemy (within a certain area), it could kill it. Would this ever be possible for anyone to do?
Thanks,

That would be pretty advanced to do. For starters, when VL-Tone found those shells, were there any behaviors attached to them, or were they just graphics? If he did, that could make it a bit easier, but otherwise it would have to act like a box when you pick it up.
What you're saying sounds possible, for someone who is good with the SM64 ROM. Just keep in mind it isn't just changing one value to get this. Come to think of it, if you could modify the box behavior to do something like that.
Bigchin, are you looking for just a picture of part of it, or do you need the entire background? |

Edit then it got screwy again.
What kind of computer are you using, and what version of toad's are you using?
I believe he is talking about the second part of the error. Which if it does have to do with Messian's flatworld patch, then you probably have to fix the pointers located at 0x002AC098. If you scroll down from that location you should come across the bytes [01 20 00 00 01 20 1b c0] If this is the problem then simply replace what he had for the last two bytes with [1b c0]. You will have to do this also for the whomps fortress too. scroll down farther until you see the bytes [01 30 00 00]. Just simply do the same thing you did with the flat world [01 20 00 00].
Yeah, the only reason I didn't get into technical details was because it might be too complicate for him.
It is. I'll leave them as is. |

Metal Cap is behavior 0x3DD8 and Wing Cap, 0x3DB8 (or the opposite, you'll have to check it). |

Ok thanks. This might help later on, but I don't need to add a 0x21 command. I skipped entirely in my thought process about the 0x14.

| Try looking on Youtube for some TT64 tutorials. There's no way to just say 'i dont no a thing about rom hacking' and just have us figure out what you want. Tell us what you want to know or get some help yourself. |

| Hacking the game codes is difficult when you're just starting off, and you need to understand hex and assembly language. My advice is to read through some of the old threads here to get an idea of how the game works. |

I'm not trying to use that, but that patch does work.
I use version 1.3b of the rom extender. |
