I go though this nearly every night I get to sleep in.

To briefly describe the feeling, imagine knowing that you're dreaming, but you can't do anything about it; you know that what you're experiencing isn't real, but you're still stuck with it. You still have to play by the rules of your subconscious.

It would make a good story if I didn't think that somebody had already capitalized on it.

My mind is a binary thing, so I don't experience this often, if ever.

Usually I'm either dead asleep and busy battling it out in the dream world, or fully awake.

Though I have had some strange lucid dreams which felt kind of like bridging the two.

Sometimes when I am dreaming about a very game-specific thing, as they have the layout after all, I will confuse myself and don't know if I am playing it or if it's the real thing. Basically like knowing you are dreaming. That carries over after I wake up for a while, having me trying to press a non-existent key wondering why doesn't it work.

That's why you don't spend all night and some most of the morning playing something.

I think I went through this last night. My cat was trying to knock over the lamp and I knew what he was doing but I was dreaming that he was knocking over the lamp to get a piece of meat.
