That didn't take long.

If you're not familiar, it's the program that nets the consumer $3-4K on a trade-in if the vehicle is not fuel efficient and they get a fuel efficient vehicle. It's already been just a few days and it's already pressed for cash. Six days, in fact, against the billion dollar allocation...

That said others have had comments on it. Most reflect on the health care reform if they have issues with something like this.

That whole OH NOES THE PROGRAM IS OUT OF FUNDUHINGSZ was retarded anyway. You don't scream OH MY GOD WE'RE GOING TO RUN OUT OF FUEL when you start a 500 mile car trip, you just fill up your tank if it goes below what it was. Same shit here.

Now if it had run out of money, by all means, cause an uproar. But I love how "IT's going to run out of money" was used instead of "It's gotten so much use that they're burning though money faster than predicted".

Even now I'm listening to CNN.

"IT WAS RUNNING OUT OF MOENY UNTIL IT GOT A BAILOUT"

Giving more money to a successful program that is accomplishing exactly what it was designed to do is not a bailout. The word has lost its original meaning entirely.

That's interesting.

Definitely not Clinton News Network, unless you consider Lou Dobbs ranting over the nonflict of Obama's birth certificate "libural media".

All I know is that the media's been frenzied over the last week or so since Obama went under 50% in approval by Rasmussen and has been hovering around 50 by many others, including Gallup, the media on either side of the spectrum has been frenzied...not to mention that health care continues to be a huge thing for both to make shots on either side.

Doesn't matter the topic.

But all it really amounts to is just people yelling and screaming at each other with nothing getting done. Find some compromise or pitch it and go on to something else, really.

The more Obama takes on it, the lower his opinion gets...they want to get stuff done before the August recess for a reason...

They want to get it through because if they don't, it sin't going to happen for another decade. See Clinton's attempt at health care; rather than actually cooperate, Republicans killed it, and we went without for another decade.

It also doesn't help when you have the media as they are, putting a negative spin on everything and ignoring the actual issues. Obama misinformedly calls a policeman's action "stupid"? Forget the rest of the hour on health care, use the stupidity quote all over the news. Cash for clunkers so popular that it's exceeded predictions? That's a terrible thing and the government needs to bail it out.

Then you have FUD campaigns.

The polls I look at mostly show the Republican support of Obama dropping further, while the Democratic / Independant sects stay mostly steady. Not really surprising.

Most I see that have Obama in the above 50 are under age 30.

Most wouldn't even get politics anyways.

Full crosstabs.

I wouldn't generalize like that, by the way. People not involved in politics are probably not going to waste their time doing a survey.

It's all the same as when my grandfather was in politics. Several politicians have only gotten their office due to generous funding from insurance companies, so now they're paid to oppose reform. Similarly, the various news stations were making it big off of being Republican, so, they're pushing that as well. As a result, we get this continuous whine about how it will make things worse.

But I don't have health insurance, because it happens to be tied to having money/a job. Nobody bothers to put a human face on it, but, if I develop anything so much as remotely serious, I'm screwed financially.

For life.

So whenever you hear those people rambling on about how it'll make things worse...

...Just know that supporting them may literally destroy my life, should I get an illness.

In some cases, even having insurance won't help. That would be the cases where they suddenly decide you aren't covered (and rest assured, they will if they can).

I've read countless stories of people being fucked over that way, because their insurance suddenly found some "pre-existing condition" (in many cases, the one they're being treated for) that just wasn't diagnosed until after they got insurance.

Health care will bankrupt you for life, and that's something a lot of people really don't get.
