Oh that game Bit Boy looks pretty interesting too. It chronicles the adventure of the protagonist who travels through all the different types of graphics to save someone, starting with 4-bit atari going all the way up to current gen Wii graphics. Looks like a top-down-3/4 view game and seems interesting.

This Koopalings are returning in NSMBWii. Larry and Morton have been confirmed via Youtube videos from E3. IGN also did up some article about them all: http://stars.ign.com/articles/998/998186p1.html

So I looked at Bit.Trip Beat to get an idea of what Bit.Trip Core might be like and I'm not sure if I want to download them. They're definitely interesting but I'm wondering about lasting appeal. Of course, I haven't seen too much on them so maybe they'd be good once bought but does anyone else have some words to give me on the games?

Virtual Console gets shut out this week, and the WiiWare lineup is pretty cut and dry; one potentially good game and two potentially not so good ones. (Although Battle Poker sounds interesting, but does it actually make sense?)

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a Darklord (Square Enix, 1000)
Battle Poker (Left Field Productions, 800)
5 Spots Party (Cosmonaut Games, 500)

MEtroid Prime Trilogy Trailer.

It's looking pretty. New intro animations, music and Samus renders for the menus and the like.

Boy, it's a good thing we have Monkey Island this week, huh?

No VC titles again...

Tales of Monkey Island - Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal (Telltale Games, 1000)
The Three Musketeers: One for All! (Legendo Entertainment, 900)
HB Arcade Cards (HB Studios, 500)

I can see HB Arcade Cards selling really well... it has solitaire.

Well, I downloaded the Bit.Trip games and they're pretty good. Steep difficulty curve though and it's annoying when you start panicking and lose because you're in the middle of a massive amount of bits to hit and keep missing them. Reminds me of DDR/Stepmania in a way and how youo can lose easily if you're unprepared for a fast section. I only wish that the songs were shorter in the games--they're reaching 15 minutes easily, so it gets tiring fast.

I also downloaded Bit Boy, and unless the Warp Mode part of the game is better than what I've played thus far, I wasted my money. The touted graphical trip through gaming history is just that: graphics. The gameplay only consists of you going around a pac-man-esque maze collecting your Bit friends. You have only 5 attacks per graphical upgrade and each of those can last up to 5 stages, and when you have upwards of 8 enemies chasing you through the maze, dying is commonplace. Oh, and you only get one continue before having to restart the whole graphical upgrade. Gameplay feels pretty broken to me. Worst part is that with the graphical upgrades comes no change in gameplay and all you're doing the whole time is traversing this maze, dying all the way.

My brother recently got Little King's Story and has been playing it a bunch. The visuals are all very adorable and childish, but is very challenging, it seems. Despite feeling a lot like Pikmin, there are a lot of elements that make it stand out. The use of classical music for most of the soundtrack is an interesting touch. I highly recommend everyone tries this out.

I'm pretty sure that I said in another thread that Bit Boy was "meh". I'd say it would be worth downloading (not via Shop Channel) if you wanted to kill an hour or two. The general IDEA of the game is good but there's no real evolution between eras. Would have helped if every single era introduced a new game mechanic and had more levels than the previous one. And don't get me started about having to shake the damn Wiimote to JUMP.

I'd score it 4/10. I like the idea of the game, the gameplay is simple yet effective... but then it gets old really fast.

Actually, it *does* mention it but it's only in the Wii levels.

If this was a flash game, I'd say that it was a good flash game. But it's not.

Talk about something never being done before...that sounds interesting but at the same time, just downright weird.

Points for effort if nothing else. I mean, if NIS can do a hitchhiking game for WiiWare then that proves nothing is off limits.

Surprised that they didn't do the obvious tie-in on VC here... then again, FF4DS was released not too long ago.

So many versions of the same damn game.

Let's see how benign this week's VC/WiiWare lineup is...

Overturn (Studio Zan, WiiWare, 800)
Sexy Poker (Gameloft, WiiWare, 500)
Tecmo Bowl (Tecmo, Virtual Console Arcade, 600)

There we go... wait a minute...

Sexy Poker (Gameloft, WiiWare, 500)

...What?

Description: Get your pulse racing with a game of strip poker against a selection of six lovely manga-style women who may wind up in nothing but swimsuits or underwear when the final hand is dealt. Choose the classic Texas Hold'em Poker to be thrilled as the bets increase, or try the Black Jack game for a mix of chance and strategy. Discover the girls' personalities: they'll bluff you! Enter the photo gallery to see the pictures you've unlocked by playing and winning. If you're good enough, Emi, Sakura and their seductive girlfriends will bet their clothes to stay in the game.

...WHAT?!?!?

Yeah I'm still trying to figure out how that one got allowed into Nintendo's family-friendly Wii.

....what?

How the hell did this pop up on the wii?

I'm sure you can find a free online flash game that does the same, but still WTF?
I never thought I would ever see something like this on wiiware.
