I'd suggest La-Mulana but it's too long and would tax your poor drunken brain to pieces. Basically it's a very puzzling, action adventure exploration game. Think a Metroid/Zelda hybrid with lots of puzzling puzzles.

Iji is a pretty awesome sidescrolling shooter action adventure RPG game. Aliens have landed on earth. You are Iji, a girl who has been cybernetically enhanced with nanotech that must uncover the aliens' reasons for arriving and stop them. Very fun, lots of replay value, and the game's plot even changes depending on the number of enemies you kill. It's even possible to beat the game with 0 kills.

Blah Blah Cave Story....
