Makes me want to go and play some old Tetris if I still had it. Man, it was the first system I ever owned. I still have mine upstairs in my nightstand and although the glue holding the screen cover on has dried up, it still works just like the day I received it, nearly 15 years ago.

IGN did a little piece on GB's history.

I remember playing with my huge white Game Boy on car rides to school. I had Tetris, and Super Mario Land.

Good times. Amazing that it has already been 20 years.

I never had the original gameboy. My first one was pocket and I got it with a copy of pokemon red! :3
Love on first play! :3
*Green-Kirby is stabbed

Man, I still think the DS is just another one in the game boy series no matter the name. Maybe that's just me...

And I was planing on reading IGNs thingy earlier today when I saw it. But, it's as badly organized as the rest of their stuff so I'm not going to bother. :/

Shiny new layout!
----------------------------------------------------

I still have my big white gameboy.

And a fair number of my games tucked away in a handy carrying bag.

Those days are quite fuzzy; I'm not even sure if I owned one myself or if I just played my brother's.

A few things stick out, though. I remember getting lost in Link's Awakening, not figuring out how to get that stupid key Donkey Kong, and accidentally erasing my brother's Super Mario Land 2 save.

Ah, the good old days...

Same here... I also have a color and an Advance...

Sounds like a good day for some Kirby's Dreamland on the can!

I remember borrowing a friend's Game Boy pocket at one point. I was a console person until I discovered that I could also play Nintendo on the go.

Unfortunately I never got a portable machine until 1998 when I got a translucent purple Game Boy Color.

... jesus it's been about eleven years since then. Wow.

That is also when the first iMac came out.

I have the old white, a green color and a few games next to it.

And a 40 pack of AAs, opened.

Never had a GameBoy. I was GameGear back then. But I woudn't mind having one now, if just to collect it.

Considering I didn't exist 20 years ago, I can't really remember 'those days' handhelds didn't happen for me for a while.

Anyway, the first Gameboy system I got was a color with Pokemon Red, I actually gave it away after it's speaker got kinda screwy and I already had an advance... Kinda wish I hadn't now...

Yeah, Kirby's Dreamland kicked ass!
And hard mode really was hard.

At least the blimp finally made a comeback in super star ultra, fucking love that boss!

So many good games on the game boy.

To be fair, you were likely also preoccupied with some business on the can. That can complicate matters.

I have one of those Play It Loud series gameboys, it's clear, and you can see all of the electronics and bits inside. I was so into that back in the day.

I still boot it up every now and then, but usually to play Motocross Maniacs. That has got to be one of the best games on there, but I really there was... "more" to it, you know? Motocross Maniacs 2 was ok, but I like the classic feel of the first one more.

Oh, that and the blurriness of the screen amazes me every time, I keep forgetting about it. That and the screen is nearly *impossible* to see unless you have a spotlight shining on it. Man, we're really spoiled these days.

I'd feel very sad if it died... most of my childhood right there is that hunk of clear plastic.

Motocross Maniacs was one of those games that I'd just put infinite time/nitro on and have fun, really.

I remember when the Pokémon fad hit us, and nearly everyone got into that game. I wasn't unaffected, I always brought my Game Boy to school and played Yellow (or later, Silver). I was the only one who still had the older Game Boy, though.. everyone else by then already had a Pocket or Color (this was in 1999-2000 I think)

I also remember when I was completely blown away when I got a Game Boy Camera! I loved that thing. It was pretty much the first digital camera I've ever seen.

Oh yeah, the batteries. I always had trouble finding some to use. For some reason, we rarely had any at home..

.. which made using the Game Boy Printer a total pain. Does anyone else remember that one? That thing just ate those batteries away..

Those were good days..
