If anyone paid any attention to my title recently, you would have seen that I was having a bit of trouble with my MiniSD. I was hoping to extract the data from it (to no avail), but it seems like that won't be happening, so I just decided to format it.
You know what comes next, I'm sure: it didn't work. So I go for chkdsk in the command prompt: fails because it's apparantly RAW. I decide that I should try using a program off the internet to format it, and try to use a program called "Swiss Knife" to do so. Uh what--when I try to proceed with formatting I get a message saying the card is read-only?
I no longer have any belief that I can fix this without asking people about it. So I am going to post this thread and wait for any suggestions to see if this thing can be fixed. I don't quite have money to spare for a new one, and personally I would rather not have a broken item.

| If it's anything like a normal SD card, there's bound to be a switch on it that makes it "read-only" (had that kind of trouble with my first one) |

This.
It'll be a tiny little switch somewhere on the card. Similar to the write protect switch on a floppy.

Well, if it WAS like a normal SD, there wouldn't be a thread. However I already looked the thing over, and there's no switch, button, or method of control that I can do on it. Only thing it has is this little rectangular rubber grip spot that's wearing out from use.
Suggestion #1, shot down on entry.

1. Try formatting it with the official SD card formatter.
2. Try a different SD card slot. If you're using a standard SD card reader, try a different card reader or a camera/MP3 player/cell phone instead. ____________________ #75 |

Same case, says the card is write-protected.
2. Try a different SD card slot. If you're using a standard SD card reader, try a different card reader or a camera/MP3 player/cell phone instead.
First case of known damage: M3DSS is stuck on Loading.
Second case: MicroSD USB reader is used, cannot format.
Last, untested case: Kingston MicroSD Adapter (Fits in normal SD slots)
Microsoft says the card must be formatted when I put it in. Attempting to format in this method through Windows results in immediate failure. Attempting to format with "Official Software" cannot occur: "This drive is not supported."
There are no methods left to connect my MicroSD to the computer. Suggestion #s 2 and 3, shot down.

Not likely to go far if several programs are claiming the card is write-protected, though I guess you can give it a shot.
My guess is that the card is toast.

...crap. I tried that, saved, closed the window, opened it beck up, guess what? Didn't change a thing. :/ I guess I'll have to go withOriginally posted by Waffle Ryebread My guess is that the card is toast.
and buy another MiniSD(who knows when I can do that though) unless someone else knows a fix for this thing. I'll mail the card if need be, even.

| Me PM | sounds like an issue I had with flash memory on an old MP3 player; it couldn't be written to but could be read from.
Yeah, sorry, your card is a lost cause.
