| I have two cards from KWorld. They were reasonably priced ($30-$40). My first card did not come with a tuner and was only s-video and composite in. My second card came with a NTSC/ATSC tuner along with s-video and composite in. I prefer the card to USB but I'm sure both function equivalently. Both my cards have been succeeded by newer models. |

Only problem is that particular card doesn't support HDCP decryption...in fact, a lot of them don't.
So if you were to go and plug that in to capture it straight from a PS3/360 or something related...you're going to get nothing but black.
Course, there is someone that offers a fix you can add to that. It's just it costs 200-300 bucks...

I couldn't find it when I posted that.
It's called DVIMAGIC, and it apparently isn't for sale anymore. ____________________ #75 |

I'm also quite interested in something that'll capture the HDMI output from my satellite box...that doesn't cost $1000.
EDIT: Oh yeah, the original post. I only ever used a Hauppage wintv pvr-150. It was alright. Quality was good, but frame rate dropped on occasion and the card would kinda "crash" and output corrupted video if you did something wrong (like set the norm wrong or change channels too fast.). Also, useless for playing video games; I connected my wii to it, once, and it was about 5 seconds late. The major benefit is encoding was handled on the card, so system load was extremely low if you wanted to do recording. |

| | | | The only problem with doing USB is that you'll have a nice amount of lag coming from it. Most of them also tend to glitch out. I wouldn't recommend it, at least...I've tried one and I can't use it on my current machine because it blue-screens.

Wouldn't it be easier for him to run GPU-Z and post his exact card info?
Beats all this guessing. Or hell, once he found out which card he had, he could google it :specialed:
