I don't quite understand why you wouldn't go see it unless you don't care for a good fantasy war movie. Blizzard has amazing lore crafted in to the Warcraft universe, and it's not like you aren't going to like it/understand it if you don't play the games. Is your choice to see it that tainted by the fact that you don't play them?

Color me excited anyways...

I remember seeing news about this two years ago on G4's attack of the show. It's supposed to have Leroy Jenkins in it.

I wonder if this is going to be any good though.

"At its core, Warcraft is a fantastic, action-packed story," said Raimi. "I am thrilled to work with such a dynamite production team to bring this project to the big screen." Chris Roven's Atlas Entertainment will be producing the film. Their last hit? A little film known as The Dark Knight. According to Variety, production will begin after the completion of Spider-Man 4, which Raimi is directing in 2010.


Woah, what the hell? Dark Knight? Sign me up.

Yeah, I love good fantasy, but ever since the Lord of the Rings films, it seems that fantasy has become the prime medium for dime a dozen shitty movies (and other media) trying to capitalize off of its success. These people must think, "hey, just find a book with some elves in it, write a crappy script that does no justice whatsoever to the original source material, and BOOM instant blockbuster! " I don't see this being much different, especially considering that World of Warcraft gained its popularity as part of this same "Fantasy boom."

Plus, when has a video game EVER equalled a good movie? I'm not getting my hopes up.


Edit: Just read Bitmap's post. If the guy from Dark Knight is doing it, and he actually cares about the source, anything is possible.

No, it's just the production company who did the Dark Knight. Sam Raimi is the guy from the Spiderman series.

It's not necessarily WoW so much as the Warcraft universe.

That said, Sam Raimi is solid, but I dunno about a Warcraft movie. Guess I'll have to wait and see how it looks (if it ever actually gets made)

Well, everything that Blizzard touches seems to turn to gold, so... it'll make tons of cash.

Quality-wise, though... I'd hope that it ends up being good but history hasn't been too kind in that regard.
