Plenty of graphic cards support HDTV these days. An X1300 is considered pretty low-end or budget these days.

RADEON anything a *3** or *2** or *1** card is usually for budget purposes. If you were looking at something like an X1900 or X1950 I'd say you'd be far better off...but even those are old. They're working on the HD 5000 series and supposedly a quad-core (5870 X4 rumors) to that end. Most of your top-of the line that are available to the consumer are in the HD 4000 series.

I'd say if you wanted to get something new...and you're on a budget and aren't really worried about performance too much...HD 2600 would be good enough but even that would be considered budget as well for under 100. I'm holding an NVidia 9800 GTX+ w 1GB GDDR3 and I know plenty of people that have RADEON HD 4850 or 4870 variants...but they cost around 130-200+ dollars.

If you're not in a huge hurry, keep checking Newegg every day because they often have nice one-day sales. I picked up a HD4850 for ~90 bucks several weeks ago when they were having one of their sales.

So far it's treating me very well.

I have an NVIDIA GeForce 7650 GS and it can do HDTV. It supports component (although I lack the cable) and DVI. It can do HDMI with the right cable, although audio will have to be connected separately.

It supports resolutions up to 2048 by 1536 and can output at standard HDTV resolutions.

If this is for a PC Blu-ray player, you should consider waiting until the encryption has been bypassed and you don't need the MPAA deciding how you can and can't watch movies. (Or get a card that supports HDCP, but then you also need a TV that supports HDCP and software that supports HDCP. Oh, and a lot of things that "support" HDCP actually don't support it.)

PCI or PCI-e? There's a pretty big difference between the two, I have the former in my dinosaur...

Also, GPUReview is a good site for learning what's good and bad, also has price listings for some manufacturers.

I'd say PCIe or AGP.

Just get GPU-Z and find out.

You could always crack open the case and take a look, just look for where your monitor is plugged into. The main difference is as follows:
PCI: The most common port, you WILL have these. Your sound card, internet card etc... are all usually plugged into this one.
AGP: Is usually brown, about the size of a PCI.
PCI-Express: This one is typically colored differently than the PCI slots and usually not brown. If you look closely, there will be a little tab inside of it on the opposite side of the PCI's tab and it will also have a latch-looking thing on it.

The black one on the left is a PCI-e and the two to the left are PCI. The AGP will look different from both of these, in the same area on the motherboard.
PCI-e

Have a look here for more info.

Desktop card slots are on the right. I've thrown out that image 3 times already, and I just found it today. Handy littler bugger.

I don't even remember where I grabbed it from, and it was just a few hours ago. I didn't originally see it on DA though, that's just where I ended up tracking it to.

Either way, I've been looking for something like this but could only get narrow results.
