A while ago while I was on the great highspeed power trip I downloaded the ocremix torrent.
Now I have about 5 Gigs of songs that need sorting, and cleaning.

So I was wondering if anyone can point out some of the best songs ocremix has.

Mario Paint Load/SavetheLastTripHopForMe seems to be one of the better ones.

I love the Secret of Evermore 'K-Pax for Evermore mix. Some of the Donkey Kong ones are pretty good too like From Within, but that one's really just nostalgia for me. I also like some of the Silent Hill remixes of true. There was a Hole Here is pretty much better than the original.

I have around 90 in my usual "good stuff" playlist, some of my favorites are:

Chrono Trigger The Mellow Corridor (by djcubez)
Kirby's Dream Land 2 Breakbeat Forest (by Tepid)
Mega Man 2 Airman WindShear (by AE)
Mega Man 2 Tickle My Wily (by Star Salzman)
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Yellow Valkyrie (by DarkeSword)
Tetris Gift From Moscow (by McVaffe)
Yoshi's Island Crystalline Caverns (by McVaffe)
Zelda 3 Triforce Majeure (by Disco Dan)
Zelda: Link's Awakening Secret Seashells (by Miku)

Possibly more. My collection is pretty outdated though, some remixes might've been renamed or removed since I downloaded them..

And, of course, that's just what I think.. your mileage may vary

The best ones on there were the piano solos by Dhsu (Mario Kart 64, and maybe some others). Those were the only things I liked out of Ocremix; the rest of it is mostly too trippy and techno-y for me.

If you're on a classy trip, anything by Neskvartetten's good.

Electronic trip, I'd say something like Chrono Trigger - Revival Day Impoetus (djpretzel), Super Mario Bros. Dirty Mix (A Scholar & A Physician; wasafowgawasheep?!), Castlevania - Simon Belmont's Garage (Rosencrantz & guildsterN) and probably McVaffe's 'Tetris Ultimix'.

Ones that have to be pointed out just because...Game Over (pretty much anything) for Punch-Out!! Little Mac's Confession, Mazedude (pretty much anything, though less) for Street Fighter 2 'Sagat's Moonbike' (if only because it found its way into SSF2 HD) and probably his Wolfenstein 3D Nazi Requiem as well.

And if you're looking for something fucked up...look up aneurysm or listen to Music of My Groin.

Shiny new layout!
----------------------------------------------------

Might as well throw my list up here.

CHRONO TRIGGER
-Calamitous Judgement (zircon)
-Memories Lost In Time (Gray Lightning)
-Ruined World (Children of the Monkey Machine)
-Subterranean Opus (zircon)
-Ocean Palace Wave Breaker (Children of the Monkey Machine)
-When All Hope has Faded (zircon, unknown)

DONKEY KONG
Protricity - Brambles in the Breeze
Protricity - Savage Seduction

MARIO 64
McVaffe - Liquid Mario
DarkeSword - Pearl Diver
The Wingless - PearlSong

Others
Metroid Prime 2 - Torvus Clockwork

(my list is much bigger than I thought >>)

Anyway, my general tip, anything by...

...zircon, protricity, mcvaffe, darkesword, CotMM, The Wingless, Jeremy Robinson, Gray Lightning...

is usually a safe bet in my mind.

Okay, this new one from NSMB just jumped up onto one of my most favorite.

Random Hero, aka Ryan Roberts, had a single mix posted in 2006, 2007, and 2008, and now he knocks out 2009 with an orchestral NSMB mix that actually draws from multiple Mario games:

0:27-0:33 - Super Mario World - Castle Theme
0:40-1:40 - New Super Mario Bros. - Fortress Theme
1:14-1:24 - Super Mario Bros. 3 - Fortress Theme
1:43-2:33 - Super Mario Bros. 3 - Dark Land Theme (World 8)
2:39-5:30 - New Super Mario Bros. - Castle Theme
