Oh my god those super solvers games were amazing when i was growing up. I think I still have Treasure Mathstorm and Gizmos and Gadgets somewhere around here. Of course, I'm sure they won't work on this computer and we don't have any other computer with an old enough OS that also has a CD drive (3.1 lappy has none).

I actually remeber the tv show for that. There was an animated cartoon, and an actual game show. I watched the game show all of the time, but I don't think I ever played the actual game.

About all I remember from the game show is "Sarah Nade's IN JAIL!" I think it used to come on right before Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Oh hell yeah! I loved the computer game and the game show! Though they sometimes screwed those kids over with touchy light pole thingys...

I Think I still have G&G around here somewhere, even.

edit: that is, on CD-ROM. Came in a 4-pack of games.

I played Math Blaster like crazy at school.

I think it was the high score/endurance aspect more than anything else, since I could solve all the problems in no time flat.

(Then again, I'd go home afterwards and play Wolfenstein 3D on my 486. )

New Master Blaster Plus was awesome.

I cannot find a copy of it though.

I used to play the ever-living shit out of it. Probably what got me going on algebra when I was barely in the third grade. Hell, I knew to solve even square roots before I was in fourth.

Actually, due to it being taught at school... guess what most of my PC time would have been spent on?

I didn't understand the appeal of the Oregon Trail games at the time; all I was interested in was Math Blaster and The Incredible Machine.

It's kinda too bad that TIM burned out as a series. I guess they just ran out of new things to put in that would actually add anything to the gameplay. All I can really think of is light switches that start out in the on position. Anyway, I must have made hundreds of custom levels in those games. There's just so many cool things to do. Also the music was pretty rockin'.

Oh, Marble Madness was awesome too. I was very bad at it but it was awesome.

Also I played Oxyd back in the day, probably one of my favorite puzzle games now. Introduced me to a variety of incredibly badass things like pressure plates, lasers, explosives, and momentum. By far the best extension of a matching game I have ever seen.

Never played Marble Madness at school, but I did play it a lot on my NES. I wonder if I still have that game? Best to look once I get my NES. And if I don't I could always buy it again.

YES! Oxyd ruled and now I need to download that freeware game in the Wiki article because that looks like a timesink.

Admit it - everyone just wanted to see how many ways there were to die or mess yourself up in Oregon Trail.

I never did win Oregon Trail 2.

Oregon Trail 4ish, however, I crushed by making a starvation wagon with a zillion horses.

It rocketed across the trail like a car would.

I also drove down a large portion of the Oregon Trail in real life for my trip, and visited several landmarks from it, like Scott's bluff and Chimney rock.

Yep. It was a real shame when someone would die from the measles or the flu. Give me something a little more dramatic and gross.

You mean something along the lines of a good old-fashioned Indian massacre?

The irony is that about 8 people were actually killed by Native Americans out of the tons of people who went on that trail.

Most of the death was cholera and from other settlers and starvation and etc.

Only 8?

See, that would be great as a stupid death scenario; say, you try to screw the Indians over on a purchase so they sic the troops on you.

Or they could just combine Oregon Trail and Nethack.

"You shoot the bird-like creature."
"You obtain 30 pounds of food."
"Eat now? y/n"
"You eat the meat of the bird-like creature and identify it as cockatrice."
"Your party turns to stone."
