And asking for a vaccine.

Although I find it interesting that, for being a new pandemic, elderly have a better chance against from the 1918 pandemic that broke out in a similar notion...

Swine flu was around last year and they were saying the exact same things about it then.

I'm fairly sure it started back in November or something.

We called the Titanic unstoppable too, and look how that ended up.

I would understand the hysteria if this was, I don't know, important... but right now it's arguably only dangerous because it's new.

That's great, but the WHO will just encourage people to do reckless behavior, as those who believe H1N1 will just sweep in and kill everybody one day will suddenly feel free to do all kinds of insane things. After all, H1N1 will kill everybody111ONE in their world.

First confirmed and 8 suspected deaths here in Puerto Rico, around 290 infectees, and the media is already calling bloody murder.

You guys were due. Seriously, after all this time...

Sanofi-Aventis, Novartis, Baxter, Schering-Plough's Nobilon, GlaxoSmithKline, Solvay, CSL and AstraZeneca's MedImmune are among those working on flu vaccines.

You'll be like a kid in a candy store, researching all the vaccines to find out which one's the best. Hell, try them all!

With that in mind, I get the picture there will be plenty of vaccines available soon. Then assuming they aren't evil or deadly, I and others could probably get them just for the point of shutting up the media. "What flu? We're all immune to it!"

If anything, you give the vaccines to children first since kids apparently don't seem to understand the whole "cover your mouth when you cough" thing until they're at least 16 or 17.

Of course, though the disease affects people our age the worst, so it's kinda hard to decide who needs it most.

I think it's weird how the elderly get in the vaccine line first almost all the time. You're going to die soon anyway!

The people our age, the workers of the world, should have first dibs. If all that's left on the planet are dying elderly and children, we're doomed. How are they going to rebuild a planet ravaged by a pandemic?

My intent wasn't to sound cruel or selfish, it's just logic.

The issue is, for most people in their prime, diseases tend to cause temporary sickness. Maybe a week to a month.

Get someone particularly elderly (or with a poor immune system), the disease can easily cause death.

Now... ask yourself again: Why do the elderly tend to get vaccines first?

Hey, they've had years to develop their immune systems!
