Adventurers can also write and rate messages for each other. These can be helpful hints or, if you’re a griefer, booby trap tips. Instead of being filled with bloodstains and messages the North American servers will be a clean slate. Unfortunately, this also means anyone that imported the game won’t be able to play with people that own Atlus’ version of Demon’s Souls.

Oh....fuck. Well, this will bring in a good audience for those that are waiting for the NA release of the game. As for a strategy guide? Why bother when you have: "LOOK BRIDGE MONSTER" being used by players who do not own a Keyboard? Hahahah!

Is it a bad thing for me to be wanting this game even though I had never heard of it before now?
Won't be a bad reason to set me back $60, I'm sure.

Now, what should I already know about the Japanese / "Asian" version before I get this? (A b-t-w, I already plan on using the Hunter for ranged attacks, unless arrows have a large price tag in this game.)

Import edition is the same as the English edition except for the American servers.

Still hard, and as far as I played: still has Americans using the "LOOK LEFT MONSTER" notes.

Yeah, get a strategy guide. If you can't afford it, then keep playing.

Just enjoy dying a lot.
