Why? No one's really sure...
She doesn't give a good reason as to why she's stepping down. My mom thinks it's because she wants to run for president, but why step down now and not closer to the actual race? Strange.

Actually my mom brought up another point. There has been that talk in the past few days about her husband and the fact that he's been a member of that Alaskan secessionist party for seven years and how she's been caught up in all that. Could be that she's resigning to avoid fallout from that.

Actually, I think it could be that. She's been getting nothing but hell ever since her return to Alaska. I mean even democrats the read CNN were tired of hearing about her all the time but they kept on bringing her into conversation because they know what kind of an impact she made whether positive or negative...she did something.
Likely bet she runs for presidency. They were working on Obama a long time down the road...I don't see how she won't have a fighting chance with the presidency once Obama's done. She has a heavy base with conservatives. Whether you see them locally or not, they exist in the country.
Still don't approve of him being in there as it is. Not really seen an improvement and...all I've really seen is it getting worse.
I'll be able to have a better standing on opinion once the halfway point of 2010 rolls around though. If Obama doesn't make the situation any better only the hardcore liberals will still attach to him with the whole notion of 'it's all Bush's fault' when he's had 4-8 years.
Then again, I don't really see the point of repub/dems anymore. As I said going into it, I try to keep as far to center as I can...it just didn't really happen for me this time around because I couldn't sit idly by. But it's getting to the point where both elected in office don't do their job anyways and it also made me mad that it boiled down to picking 'the lesser evil' for many in the last election. It basically amounted to how far on the left or right you were...not if you were dem/repub.
I'm just waiting for my 401K that I don't even have yet as well as social security to be null and void by age 40.
