How in the world are you supposed to set up filters to run automatically? I have a few that I set up, but unless they auto-run it's kind of pointless.

It says it runs them "when new mail is retrieved" or something, but that kind of completely defeats the point of adding "Mail is older than 1 day" filters.

Filters? Working in Thunderbird?

Ha ha ha ha ha.

I have my email server do that. Last time I tried to make filters work, I lost 3 hours of my life.

I found this

This has been tracked down to a problem when you enable the new feature in 1.5 of quarentining downloaded messages for AV scanning. When you disable this, filters based on content of message body again work automatically.

Tools | Options | Privacy | Antivirus
UNcheck "Allow anti-virus clients to quarantine individual incoming message"

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=2855529

Could it be your AV software interfering?
