Leave the second question to the mods like me, RDX.

Otherwise, yes, please stop asking people to take it to PM, Gamekrazzy. This thread's here so you can do it and other people can see it--if I wanted it to only be in PM I'd write that down in the forum rules.

Error opening the ROM file (Error: position larger then file size), make sure you have sufficient permission to open it.

Umm...I kinda changed Mario's Geometry Layout into a Haunted Door's Geo Layout. How do I change it back? I tried to look at the list but I didn't see Mario's name.

Are you sure? I still don't see him. Can you tell me which Geo Code he is?

No you don't. But to set the act parameter. You need to enter the checksum area. This means you are going to have to recalculate or bypass.
I'm feeling rather lazy, so just stop by this thread.

If thats the case, then you probably have an offset rom. did you change anything that caused it to be maybe 1 or 2 bytes longer. If it's offset, then information can't be found.

One more question to be sure. Does this happen before anything gets loaded or after something is loaded.
If after. Please post where this error is occuring. Because that will help with the location of the problem.

if you change a geometry layout pointer, and save, sometimes it will delete options which is what happens in the game. I know this because it happened with the pipe. I lost the stars from the game completely. The only way to fix this is by manually changing the pointer back to mario. To do this open another rom in a TT64, and pretend you are going to change his layout again. Now instead of doing that, copy the location given in the lower left, and go to the location that is given for Mario under geometry layout in a hex editor for the rom with the problem. Change that back to what it should be and the problem should be fixed. If you have trouble understanding this, repost, and I will try to make it simpler on you.

Oh ok. Castle grounds has a byt of 00 in that checksum area I showed you right. What your saying is you can't choose your acts?

Hi every1! Well, I've got 2 questions:
1. How are all types of GS codes constructed for the N64? On Yoshielectron's page there's only note about type 80 and there's no valid mem address range given.
2. Could someone make a code to randomly (eg. using rom's routines to shorten code) corrupt some of random addresses when pressing D-pad? That'd be a great fun

There is some nice information about GS codes in the N64 section of Enhacklopedia. The N64 has 4MB of RAM, so the memory range is from 80000000 to 80400000, or if the game uses the expansion hack, up to 80800000.

Random memory corruption is much more innefective on the N64 than on a system like the NES, because there's way too much data in the RAM. Also, all code is executed from RAM, so there's a high risk that the garbage code will crash the game.

The tiles were probably greyscaled before they were put in. Meaning because tt64 can't make the graphics resolution better then the game, that you can't change the color. Your going to have to use Tile Molester or something else like that.

Uh, what?

I suggest you refrain from giving newbies advice unless you actually know what the hell you're talking about.

He did in this situation, he just not good english.

(sometimes it'll greyscale a texture if the resolution is too high, but in this situation it was something else).

I don't see a question, but I still can give an answer. I just think he is unsure.
And no you don't set it to 2 you set it to 1.
If it were your third star you would set it to 2, because act 1 has a value of 0 in this case.
