Got the game earlier, finally got around to playing it for about 3 hours. It's uh...Wow. I'll give a review for what I've seen...

---

The graphics at first will startle you. They look amazing for the most part, with some insane texture quality, but then there are the little things every now and then like backdrops (like the outside from inside a building) that look like horrible pastel four polygon cardboard. Sacrifice for the rest of the great graphic, but it hurts us nitpickers. Also, framerates are usually good, but it doesn't take too much before it lags a little. It's certainly playable though, it's kind of like Halo 2 lag if I remember correctly. Oh, and the reload blur is cool at first, but you might as well get rid of it if you are like me with graphics, because it's not so much a blur as it is turning on 16bit color smear for everything but your gun.

Graphics: 9/10; Great models, amazing textures, but falls short of perfect because of lag and a few areas of sacrifice.

The controls. See, they are completely customizable, but the problem is that no matter how much customization you do, its still got a curve. You have a lot more buttons to worry about than Metroid Prime. This causes problems with the Wii
Remote. Considering it's kind of a stretch from A to the Dpad, it's tough for a while. However, if you pick up playing with your thumb on the Dpad or in between it and A early on, you'll benefit fast. You really get to do a ton of customization, I redid the HUD because it's a little odd at default, but after tossing it around and messing with sensitivities and bounding boxes for 30 minutes, I still wasn't sure if I "had it". With some creativity I could probably get things to be more comfortable on the hand, but it's at the point where I just don't care anymore and the slight hand strain is fine.

Controls: 8/10; Has a learning curve no matter what, a ton of functions makes for some confusion on the remote

Gameplay is certainly your average first person shooter. Kill stuff, kill all of the stuff, kill some more of the stuff, and then move to the next area. There's a puzzle every now and then, but it's just your general run of the mill FPS. The professional reviews are indeed correct in this area, where you won't see anything amazing and out of the ordinary beyond the "been there" puzzles provided in part by the ASE. However, I haven't even made it half way in to the game, so I can't completely comment on the gameplay just yet. There may be some surprises waiting for me...

Gameplay: ??/10; Average for the most part, but being a fan of repetition anyways (WoW, competitive CS), I have near no problem with it. If things don't change, this will probably land an 8/10

I hate reviewing sound, because for the most part when I play games, I have a fan on me. It's hard to hear music, but everything else is clear. The weapon sounds, enemy chatter and voice acting are all top quality, taking a few steps above generic and pushing out some intense realism at times. Since most can agree it's hard to excel sound these days in to anything special, there really isn't much more to say.

Sound: 8/10; Some top of the line voice acting and atmospheric sounds with a very convincing seriousness to it. From what I can tell, there isn't very much music, and any I have heard isn't much but your generic adrenaline rush scores at critical times.

Can't really comment on Replay Value just yet, but from what I've been told from people with the game, it's quite amazing online and people are stunned it has been pulled off. Tie that in with secrets throughout the main story which can unlock achievements (If that's your sort of thing), and you just may have some serious replayability here.

Replay Value: ??/10; We'll see where this one goes, but I can pretty much guarantee it's going to be around 9/10 because of the online and achievement goodness.

---

Graphics: 9/10
Controls: 8/10
Gameplay: ??/10
Sound: 8/10
Replay Value: ??/10

Overall: ??/10
3-Hour Impression Overall: ~8.5/10

---

So yeah, interested in "blowing the dust off of your Wii (because you don't like video games)" and a FPS? Give it a shot :O

It gets redundant and boring after a while. Probably a 6/10 from me.

I'm considering of getting this game just for the online gameplay. Watched a few videos and it looked hell of a fun.

My brother got it yesterday, and I must say I am very impressed. Not much to comment on that hasn't already been said. However, as a person who has been to Washington DC recently, I must say the environments are great. I loved the lightup signs and stuff they had all around the first few levels. The radio is a nice touch, too.

I mean it looked like a game I could see myself playing longer than just one playthrough because of the online features.

I bought this today finally and started playing. Here's my initial impressions.

  • MP5 tears through ammo a bit fast for my liking but is damn useful either way.
  • Strike Rifle is awesome.
  • End of level three is ridiculous. Died 5 times there trying to take on those four conduits and the dredge swarming from them.
  • Graphics are awesome for Wii.
  • Environments are fun to explore.
  • All-Seeing Eye is quite interesting. It's like the Scan Visor from Metroid Prime.
  • I wish grenade throw could be mapped to a button instead of a motion. I always seem to overshoot.
  • I love the customization options but I feel overwhelmed. So much control, I'm never entirely happy!
  • Ran into a predictable storyline element but wasn't expecting it to happen so early so it caught me a little off guard.

I'm having fun with it. I'll have to give more impressions once I've beaten it but for now I'm very impressed.

  • As for Conduit, from the short experience from watching you play I already don't like it. No matter how much I try to trick myself into enjoying a shooter it always come down to one thing...the lack of a story. As for Conduit the story was iffy from the start. Give me those good ole' JRPG's any day, better story, better game-play, better everything

And you complain about the little things too much, like how my TV was always off color and the like

You always dislike games without strong stories. In this case, I'm looking past the whole alien conspiracy theory storyline and stuff because I'm having a genuinely good time playing it. There are almost no good FPSes on Wii so this is a first for me. I don't really count Call of Duty WaW because while good, it wasn't great. Conduit on the other hand is pretty great.

No I just prefer them, I just dislike shooters in general; there is rarely any intelligent thought involved. Shooters comprise of only mindless violence which serves no purpose but to give stiffys to all the shooter bandwagon jumpers.

But of course this is simply my opinion.

I'm a big fan of the shotgun. And yes, level three was lolwtf, I got killed so many times on *Easy*. Eventually I found a workable way to beat that fight, though:

Online is fun too, though a lot of the players in my area are way better than I am... :/
