So Tim Burton is doing his take on Alice in Wonderland. There's been a few photos released and I have to say that the Mad Hatter looks freaky.

Jeez, not being Spontaneous Madness is gonna take some getting used to...
----------------------------
I am somewhat surprised it took that long for him to try it, considering the book has a rather high level of the weirdness he seems to like.

Oh lord. Tim Burton's rendition of the hookah scene. I don't want to even know about that...

I love Tim Burton films. Not a surprise to see Johnny Depp on the cast list, not a bad thing though.

Looks pretty interesting. I might have to check this out.

Official trailer, but I don't think it's officially been released yet. Watch it before it gets taken down.

Oh yeah, high definition

No problem. I love the Cheshire Cat, that's one of the main things I was waiting to see in the trailer.

The Cheshire Cat is epic... I love him

I was actually in the play version of Alice so I can pretty much quote the whole Disney version from playing Tweedle Dummer (technically Tweedle Dee)

I can't wait for the Burton version, I hear it's going to be pretty faithful to the book. Acid trip ahoy!

Alice in Wonderland is the american version of Neon Genesis Evangelion. So many mindfucks it's not right. At any rate, the joys of Tim Burtin's insanity blending with other insanity. In his other movies (A Nightmare Before Christmas, Sweeney Todd, other movies I can't remember) he did a great deal of mind bending and twisting of the rules of reality.

In all honesty, I'm expecting good things from this movie. If it's not that good, then I'll probably get mad and write something to Tim. Doubt he'll ever read it, but it'll make me feel better.

As for HD, I think it's good, but not everything should be in HD. Especially since it brings out blemishes, wrincles, and imperfections in the skin.

Well, I like the imperfections. It's what makes people unique.

This.

I don't mind HD at all. Shows that no one is perfect.

I haven't seen this discussed anywhere, but this movie isn't just Tim Burton's take on the story. It's technically a sequel to the story. It's been years since Alice was in Wonderland and she doesn't even remember going there. She is at a party, finds out some guy is going to propose, and she runs. While running away, she spots a white rabbit and follows it to you-know-where. Everyone in Wonderland remembers her, but she doesn't remember ever going there when she was younger. That's how Tim Burton can technically completely rewrite the way the story is without stepping on any toes. That's also how the Mad Hatter can be a main character instead of just a side character.

I didn't know that until I saw the newest trailer. I thought it was a remake.

It must really piss off Burton when he heard that SyFi was releasing a TV movie based on the same concept, website here. It also had Hatter as the main character. But it wasn't the same Alice, but a new one.

The movie was actually good and I have a debate on which hatter is/will be better.

I am kind of worried about this movie to be honest. I am worried that it will become "Mad Hatter in Wonderland" due to the fact that Johnny Depp is playing the infamous mad hatter. I am also concerned that the movie will fail to capture the "FUCKED UP" essence that Wonderland is made of. Those of you who have read Lewis Carrol's books know exactly what I mean.

Also on a educational note, the term "Mad Hatter" stems from the practice of soaking the rim of your hat in mercury creating a euphoric/trippy effect for the wearer.

Still, the movie looks cool and I really want to watch it! (I saw a trailer when I was away watching avatar on the big screen.) :3
