You know in Super Mario World when you are fighting bowser, and between each round, the princess throws out a mushroom? I believed that every time that happened, I had to yell in my Peach voice "Help, mario help!" or I would lose the battle. Really more of a good luck thing I guess, but still, I did that for years on end.

Also, in SMW when you play the bonus game after collecting 100 bonus stars, at the end Mario gives a peace sign. I always had to give a peace sign at the same time. I think the music suddenly cutting off freaked my out, and I thought that if I didn't do the peace sign, that my game would freeze, or something equally bad would happen.

Also, I used to be afraid of Midnight. I thought that if I ever saw our red digital clock turn to midnight 12:00 in a dark room, that it would attack me or something. I guess something about those numbers freaked me out. If I was ever up around midnight, (my parents never gave me a bedtime, they were very lenient,) I would actually sleep at the foot of my parents bed so I would be safe, and hide my eyes so it wouldn't "get" me. 12:01 was fine though.

Like I said, more of a way to entertain myself than a belief. I'm kinda surprised it's common, though...

I also used to be deathly afraid of lava in games, for some stupid reason. Had to ask my mom to beat castles in SMB3 and such for me. :|

I actually dreamt I found one in my apartment. Was a really weird dream, since I couldn't even get back up and out, despite remembering stairs there. It was like a huge library.

- Tell a lie and you get one of those annoying bumps in your tongue that hurt like hell.

- I used to think the water heater in my house was going to explode any second. Now that I am a plumber, I know how it works so I am not afraid of it anymore.

- Thanks to Roger Rabbit. I was afraid of sitting on the toilet in fear of being sucked down on it. Mom told me at last year's reunion that I used to literally shake my legs in fear of sitting on the damn thing. This, of course, was when I was potty trained.

- Chicken Shit turns into Corn.

- I used to think I was in a movie. Any second and a bunch of people would come in and pamper me up for the next scene.

- When a Go-Kart was messed up. I always thought they 'Tilted'. Thanks a lot Sonic Spinball. Thanks a lot for teaching me that word in which was used incorrectly.

- Girls laid eggs. Like chicken eggs.

I'll post more when I think of more.

Here is more!

- NOT MIND SAFE

- David Copperfield's magic was actually real. Who would have thought those things were math tricks / illusions? I remember having cousins over pretending to be a part of the show.

- Deer poop was bullets for BB guns. Blame my dad for hunting deer all the time.

- Zelda was the main character for the videogame 'Zelda' for the NES. Yes, I have the Gold cartridge still to this day.

- I used to have this Mickey Mouse poster that had the ABC's on them. To this day, I thought the poster was out to kill me over this nightmare I had when I was a kid. Basically, the world ended with Mickey dropping black balls behind him with weird noises following him. When I was in Pre-school, I cried when we pronounced our ABC's in fear this stupid dream would haunt me.

- My uncle would play with my kin and I as "Monster Daddy". In these times, I thought he was literally the boogyman."

- The Night Light would save me from dying.

My mom always did this in Z2. I just called him "that little green dude" myself until I figured it out... but I would call the game itself "Zelda".

There was another game my mom always played but I can never put my finger on it. My guess is Castlevania. But it seemed a little deeper. Might just be my child memory, but I do remember my mom being a gamer back when I was growing up.

I mean hell, there was no way I would know about an NES at the age of 5 back in the boonies. Even thought the NES was five years old at the time!

My mom would always play SMB3, and I'd watch.

I never actually touched the game for a few years because I was afraid to be terrible at it. I loved the shit out of Duck Hunt, though...

In some race/fighting video game, there were courses made only of white tiles and bright lines between them... I was told that if I played these levels then I would have epilepsy. Thus I never dared to complete these courses...

When I was really young, I thought characters from my cartoons lived inside my TV set.

I was a video game master and was better then anyone...Probably influenced by my extremely large NES/Genesis collection at the time.

Also, Dexter's Lab had me sure that drinking coffee meant eye gunk shattering powers were possible.

I used to believe as a child that if I didnt run up the basement stairs fast enough, the stairs would flatten into a slide and I would be eaten by Gollum. (This was after I read the Lord of the Rings)

Didn't everyone think that at some point once you beat Super Mario Bros. or Sonic?

Totally logical reaction. Some still believe it to this day.
