Perhaps if things really go south (but 1.8 billion is pretty bad) someone will buy them up.

Link was broken for some odd reason. But It's not hard to figure out that This was the article you posted.

But 26 cents a share is pretty bad. In 07 the share count was 7.80 a pop. The only way I can see the theme parks getting a higher revenue is they really need to start advertising right now. In my area, they usually do that. Go to any grocery store in my area and buy a ticket for like 30 bucks. Comes with a large free refill drink and a 2 dollar coupon on one food item.

Also, I am going to the parks this year. Maybe sometime in July I will go up there and have me some fun.

Maybe if the cost of admission wasn't like, a gazillion dollars, they wouldn't be having this problem

Actually admission's not bad. It's more of the cost of the gas to get there, the food, the merchandise, taking the time off of work etc, and then the fact that most of their rides suck compared to other theme parks. Cedar Point kicks Six Flags' ass. Actually, I thought I heard somewhere that Cedar Point bought Six Flags, but maybe I'm thinking of thinking of Kings Island? Anyway yeah. Six Flags only had like two good rides. I personally won't miss them, and I doubt that this will be a continuing trend with the theme parks I actually care about. For example, I doubt that Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure will be going bankrupt anytime soon, especially with the Harry Potter park they plan to open in 2010.

There are two types of people who keep theme parks in business: thrill seekers who always come back year after year to ride the biggest, best, and newest thrill rides, and families who come back year after year because there is a lot for all ages. Too survive, the park needs to continually change for the better, and in a unique way to make them stand out from other parks. Those changes also need to be adequately advertised, both to bring in new customers, and to make sure the old ones know that there is something new worth coming back for. Six Flags failed in all of those areas. I mean, when's the last time you heard of a great new ride at Six Flags? Especially one that was unique to Six Flags and worth making a special trip for? And heck if kids aren't interested in it either, then you are pretty much screwed.

I think they bought just the one Six Flags park that used to be Geauga Lake.

Maybe if they didn't have a creepy bald guy in thick glasses that can't dance as a mascot...

Well if you guys enjoy having your customers depedicated then go ahead buy them.

Never liked six flags. And that incident probably assisted in putting the nail in their coffin.

My apartment at school is just up the street from Six Flags Fiesta Texas (in San Antonio) and yeah its like 40 dollars to get in. Which is not exactly something I'd drop just for a day of roller coasters, plus yeah with food and all that other jazz you end up pretty penniless by the end of the day I'm not exactly strapped for cash but for most college students, my friends included, the cost of admission is just a tiny inconvenience that steers most of us away. I'm aware you could just bring in a can of Coke but oh well.
