That's what Pajitnov and Rogers seem to want...

I could see this happening. If there was any game turned sport that was a mind-challenger that would be accepted stateside, it'd be this...especially after the wow that was TGM (3) to most.

Look at South Korea lately?

Anyways, I think that Tetris has merits as a competitive game, as long as both players get the same blocks (luck inherently wrecks competitive games unless luck is specifically advertised as a factor to be overcome, like in card games).

Or it's in a way that center determines piece giving in that after you lay down a piece, the center gives you the next piece to whichever side, etc.

That's manipulated quite a bit with stuff like Tetris Battle/Butou Gaiden. Course, anymore, I think they'll be pushing towards attack/defense/item stuff that they've been doing since TGM3 or Ace rolled around. Heboris shows that off quite a bit (I get owned).

A good randomizer (i.e. the TGM one) tends to insure that luck isn't really a factor of how badly you do but more what order you get pieces (it's very balanced without being as boring as Tetris DS)

Also hahaha at this idea.

Their latest version features six people gaming together online using the familiar pieces and also new attack and defense items. It is currently being tested in Korea.

Yeah, I've never heard that before! No way. I mean it's not like Blocktrix had 8 users (with items!) or anything. Or hell, even Tetris DS with 4.

I can just see it. Competitive Tetris! With infinity! NOW EVERYBODY CAN WIN

Kinda makes me wonder if anyone's ever tried for any Tetris DX world records lately, actually.

...I've beaten one of them, I believe.
