I'm pretty sure 'noob' is used more than 'web 2.0.' Heck... It's more of a word since it doesn't contain numbers...

David Crystal, professor of linguistics at Bangor University, called the idea "the biggest load of rubbish I've heard in years". "It is total nonsense. English reached 1 million words years ago. It's like someone standing by the side of the road counting cars, and when they get to 1 million pronouncing that to be the millionth car in the world. It's extraordinary."

At least we aren't alone in this.

Anyway, some other candidates for the word were "coddies", "chengguan", "fundoo", "slumdog", "sexting", "noob", "bangsters", "slumdog" and one the guys at Nvidia would have loved, "greenwashing" which apparently denotes "re-branding an old, often inferior, product as environmentally friendly, and quendy-trendy."

Take your pick for which one you would've preferred. 'Slumdog' could've gone along with the movie that was recently made (Slumdog Millionaire), couldn't it?

I think we're in an era where 'sexting' it the best pick out of all those past n00b.

These guys are mistaken. In fact it is me who is in charge of the language, since it's possible to be in charge of a language.

What fucking horseshit. The Oxford English Corpus, a massive collection of all sorts of texts from throughout English's history, has over two billion words in it. Even though you may challenge the veracity of the words (which is usually wrong to do), there's no way that you could cut out 1.9 billion of them.

I agree completely on the horseshit issue.

Web 2.0 isn't even a fucking word!
