Because. When they chase the last source of human flesh up there, they all freeze solid.

Then we don't need to waste our precious shotgun ammo or chainsaw fuel...

There are no pain pills in real life you know. We won't survive long without ammo.

And, why would you punch a zombie anyways? Very innefective to punch rotten flesh.
