Generic background.

The darker blue is water and goes in waves.

I still poke at hacks here & there, but not like I used to...

Here's the hack I've been poking at for motivation...

A code name: Viper and Rolling Thunder crossover.

And here's a SMB3 hack I wanna finish...

Already posted that one at RHDN, but I figured it'll, dunno, fit here better? Anyway, ever being able to edit anything is likely out of the question (just looking at the current codebase), but, if nothing else, it's programming practice or so

Visual Studio C++ 6.0 is what that's coded with, though for future projects I think I'll use something a little more RAD :/

Might sound stupid/obvious, but try Winforms C#, .NET is usually pretty nice to code with. Then again, you could also try VB.NET Winforms which is basically just as fast, just a little wordier syntax-wise.

.NET and WinForms is amazing. I've tried switching to other languages but I can't really code as well or as quickly as in C#/.NET for most things. (If you want to see an example of what it's capable of, take a look at my NSMB editor, or Lazy Shell)

Oh, that's an editor. I thought it was a hack at first, haha.

It isn't too bad looking. I assume all those various broken tiles (see wherever statues are) are in the actual game, too?

Broken tiles? You mean the rearrangements of the pillars with the faces? Or the rock with the half bush for hair? The point is that this editor supports selectable 8x8 tile manipulation via copying and other such goodies. Hyrule Magic only supported 32x32 tile copying / moving and it's pretty fail.

Jeez, not being Spontaneous Madness is gonna take some getting used to...

He probably means the two shadows in the top-right statue group.

Still, if it works how I think it does it's really good.

Although considering the fact that he was talking about all of the statues instead of just the ones in the corner I'm guessing that he meant this:

Although the shadows definitely are a problem as well .
