Although maybe a bit more answerable than others...

A laptop that can run three GPUs...upwards of GTX 280Ms to be precise. Starts at $1.8K for barebones.

I could buy or put a decent down payment on a car for the fully decked out price of ~$5.7K...

So...no.

You don't "need" it...

But I do "want" it.

Two different things.

I'm with Yume Kusanagi on this though, probably more cost effective to buy yourself a new car... which is something I "need".

I'd personally pick up a Pandora/netbook over this. I don't see why either one would be a bad choice, anyway

...Makes me wonder if the Pandora's being sold again, yet...

I couldn't imagine EVER maximizing anything on that.

But the height's... yeah, what. I mean, fuck, MY CRTs can get a higher vertical res than that. :| (1280x1024)

The low vertical resolution is probably due to DVI-D bandwidth issues or something similar. I wonder if it's actually two 1440x900 monitors combined into one panel, using two DVI-D cables? That would seem to offer the highest compatibility with current video cards (most--if not all--new models have dual DVI ports nowadays, and can do 1440x900 easily) and explain the 2880 horizontal resolution.

I think the lack of 1080p would shoot something like that in the foot. They could've grabbed something like 1920x1080 and doubled it to 3840x1080. I'm pretty sure that DVIs, when matched against proper video cards, can achieve 1600 height. I'm also pretty sure the maximum on video cards under this resolution top at 2560x1600 on a single monitor.

Hell, if nothing else, dual-HDMI the darn thing. Such things are happening on motherboards now...and my comp got a DVI-HDMI adaptor that came with for old-style DVI.
