The only reason why I didn't post this article when I saw it, is because we already know this. And Sony will have a new one and Microsoft and some other party will come along and try and they will fail.

Yea, I think next generation is going to be a huge turning point for the consoles. Something tells me Nintendo's going to be a bigger powerhouse than expected.

I don't see a big turn around. I see things getting more same. We might even see another (multiple?) x86(_64) based console next generation. It happened to the arcades. Consoles will just become closer and closer to locked out, limited PCs that wont have any other reason than DRM to buy.

Honestly, I hope console gaming dies off and more good games get PC releases; i'd rather buy 1 machine to play all games than a PC + other random things.

The problem with that idea is you have games in an arms race to look the best, meaning you have to dump $$$ every year in order to get the newest hardware capable of playing whatever new game you have, not to mention having to deal with specific periphials or other odds and ends.

Consoles are one of those things you can (usually) buy once and never have to upgrade again.

Personally I'm all for keeping consoles and PCs seperate.

You know there'll come a day when a console gets a graphics card upgrade.

Ditto, I'm mainly a console gamer for this exact reason. Not having to constantly upgrade the hell out of my hardware to play the newest game is a big bonus in my books.
