Uhm...well, you can save at any time, really, so long as you're out of battle or (I think) a dungeon. Way I usually do it is I get to a point, or an event, and save (Battle Diary) right before it. Works just as well.

The very beginning is tough, I mean I already mentioned this early in the thread, and it will separate the people that actually want to play the game from the ones who don't. After you start getting the system a little bit more, using synths and getting items, you'll probably appreciate it a little bit more...

...or not...it's not like I see you having any history with the games being presented in this title either (outside of possibly Darkstalkers) so...that might be less incentive. Probably more for me since I know (or know of) all the characters presented so far for the most part. Once you start getting a bit better with the system and start leveling attacks, the combo meter will start going insane.

Yea, I only know of Darkstalkers and the rest from here and there and other people mentioning them. I might give it another go tonight and then send it back. There's just other games that I would rather try out right now. I might rent it again in the future.

Yea I kinda found it a little weird that you rented an RPG but then again...

Disgaea 3 may treat you similar. It takes time. You just have to have the drive to actually play as long as you want to get rewarded with your work with certain payouts.

But yea it probably would do you good to play the series related to it first...otherwise you might get a little lost or you might look at it and go 'well gee I wonder what these characters used to do in their on time'.

I rented Star Ocean to try it out. In that case, it made me want to buy it. Still waiting on being able to dish out 60 for it...or for it to go down in price.

187 hits - 151943 damage.

Needless to say, Meu's getting very entertaining to use.

EDIT: Make that 211 hits - 202915 damage.

Broke the 300K mark and pushed the combo to the 230s.

Only problem is I just got raped severely off a battle and I'm only about 4 levels behind. The only real problem is surviving it defensively. I think I'm just way behind when it comes to synthing.

This games really pushes one to the brink...

...especially when I'm getting 600% EXP for SURVIVING a battle and maybe doing 1% damage to two opponent's HP...

Too bad that 0 EXP x 600% but it at least gave me the TP and PP...unfortunately, it was for two characters that I've never or barely used.

The lead guy hit 2681 for combo.

His damage? Maxed. 99,999,999 damage.

Just got smashed by a random encounter with a level 120 (only Shurelia barely survived).

So that answers your question about level 100+.

EDIT: I tried, but I was annihilated. I could not escape from the fight either. I whittled its HP down but it had an ability that caused standard attack and standard magic to miss 100% of the time. The only thing that would damage it was EX attacks, and that wasn't enough to put it away...didn't help that it recovered 10% of its HP every turn.

Oh...and a standard attack would do a 36-hit combo from it. Fucking retarded.

Glad to see everything I hate the most from Spectral Souls in there. I remember late in the game nearly every enemy had both Parry and Perfect Barrier as trigger abilities. This was practically standard issue for the Otherworld Gate, which made clearing the first 50 floors for the True Ending a massive grind. I mean, you know something's broken when you have to save up for your specials and combos to even put a dent on the enemy while they can happily kick your ass in the meantime :/

And now you know why I dropped that game faster than a turd on a warm day!

Yea and it's the same deal in here. I had half his team that he's showing here (Meu, Marie) and also had Shurelia and York to boot. I launched an EX2 out of Meu and proceeded to do massive damage to it for half the attack, but it was nerfed right around the 25% mark (about half the hits in). So not only did he dodge all attacks but his stats went up.

The only difference is I had a fighting chance...his team is level 20ish...mine's 65 and rest 75.

And yea, that's him...I guess it was just a chance occurrence then...but shit, that would've been a great amount of experience if I would've won (and I could've...if I just would've had more EX stock).

I gave Spectral Souls a decent chance to surprise me by not sucking ass. I lasted about 30 minutes (most of which was waiting to, you know... play) and agh.

Well it explains a ton about how these people are getting 999 stats so quickly, at least.

Apparently, in hard mode, if you get the true end to this thing...there are some extras in here that get...sadistic. Level 999 is very possible, apparently.

And apparently it gets to the point that healers don't have too much of a say either...so item use comes into play.

EDIT: Scratch that, got 300 exactly in that now.
