Apparently, going 60 in a 45 mph zone wasn't fast enough for everyone today, as people behind me were making the effort to switch out and pass me like crazy. That and I had this one person massively tailgate me while the guy in the other lane was very adamant about matching my speed, until I slowed way down so he'd freaking pass me, to get tailgate dumbass to switch out and pass too.

BAH DRIVING SUCKS ARGH I'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND ANYONE!

Also yesterday, I had a green left arrow, and it was clear, but everyone was honking when I turned, and the person behind me didn't go. I wonder what that was about.

When and uhhh... Where was this? If it was 28... It could have been me... I had to get home in a hurry... But I wasn't tailgating. I leave a good following between cars. I did, however, run into a section of cars which were going extremely slow. I and a few other drivers had to zig-zag through these bums... It was like they didn't even care about the speed limit. At one point, they were going almost 25 mph in a 45 mph zone and it drove me nuts! ><

This was all between 1:20-1:45 today (except for the "yesterday" part I mentioned). The 60-in-45-zone was Braddock, 28 wasn't nearly as bad today.

If you saw a bright red Jeep Liberty, it may have been me.

First off, shame on you for pushing a third of the limit over. Fuck other people. 50 at the most. 60 in a 45 is stupid, that just gets you wrecked.

Second off, who cares about other drivers if they don't care about you? If they tailgate you, drop your speed to 30 so they back off UNTIL...they back off (most drivers with sense get this signal). Do this in no-passing zones for a bonus effect. You sometimes have to be aggressive about that stuff.

Third, was there a left yield on green sign above the light? That could've been why. I understand that left arrow takes precedence most times and you're usually right to go but if it's marked otherwise, you need to be aware. That's not really your fault but a marked signed does take precedence over a light (because the light can be wrong by a badly placed signal).

Just don't want to get in wreck. I've done that and it was me rear-ending the guy because I thought he had already gone and I was busy looking into oncoming traffic. I also take the time to remain two cars distance (at least) back from anyone at any time that I'm driving that isn't me turning or being stopped (although I still tend to stay back a little). Idiots make sudden maneuvers.

Add this all up in the fact I drive (and always have driven) stick shift. Yea. Have to be aware.

In almost all cases, there's a difference between "green arrow" and "left turn yield on green". The latter is almost universally a circle; arrows are reserved for nonyielding traffic signals.

Auto for me, thanks.

You'd think this but I asked because I've seen stupider shit.

Not to mention I did exactly what Drag just did when I was younger and it turned out to be the exact same situation I just described. Cut some guy off over it that was SUPPOSEDLY in a yield but boy the look on his face...

Yep, but it still annoys me when there are 10 people passing me. That's why I was going 60, otherwise, I normally only go 5 or 10 over.

That's kinda what I did, but mostly because I wanted the car that was driving alongside me (Why did this even happen? I *hate* when there are cars driving right alongside me. Traffic should always be a checkerboard pattern, but this guy, nope) to not be driving alongside me, and the tailgater pretty much just switched lanes when he saw "hey, I can be farther up", and just tailgated the other guy.

As far as I'm aware, no. The entire lane is a left-turn-only lane, and there's a light completely dedicated to telling you when you can make said turn. (i.e., green arrow, yellow arrow, red. Nothing else, one column.) I'll need to check again next time I'm there. However, even if it was a "yield on turn" thing, *all* of the other lights for going straight were all red, so literally *nobody else* could go except for me turning left, and the person across from me turning left. I figured the honking was possibly for the person across from me to go or something, but I have no idea.

I keep my distance, but people see it as "HEY EMPTY SPACE *LANE CHANGE* GETTING IN FRONT OF YOU NOW KTHX", which makes me need to slow up to put more distance in. In that case, I may end up going *under* the speed limit if enough people do it (and they have before).

Manual? Ehh. Auto, thanks. I'm really not a good multitasker.

I get that too...yesterday even...and without a turn signal (of course). The little courtesies that people never tend to do, you know?

I still keep my distance...especially to those that pull that kind of stunt because that's an indicator that I REALLY need to maintain distance because people that pull that stupid shit and don't look at what they're doing will be the ones to wreck first, usually into the side of someone because they don't know what the hell a mirror is and keep on going or are on their damned cell phone and can't seem to get the fact that car use and cell phone use are never one in the same.

And you people with your issues with manuals...it's not that hard. :\ You can't use a cellphone while you do it, but still...you shouldn't need to and you only really have to drive a car with one hand most times anyways unless you're turning and that really isn't that hard to manage once you get used to it.

I'm so happy that I am driving less now. We have some many people here from different areas so they all have their different driving styles.

Here in California, everyone drives 20 mph over the speed limit, cuts one another off, drives in the parking/emergency lanes, and honks continuously.

Not to mention bumper to bumper 3 mph traffic.

Yeah, it's the 4th worst state in the union for driving.

Some drive offensively, some drive defensively, and... when it comes to offensive drivers, I drive obnoxiously. I looooove seeing morons speeding and lane-hopping my my mirror then making it so they can't get to where they want to go, be it pulling up just close enough on the person in the other lane to not let anyone pass, or actually blocking their access to the exit because they were speeding in the left lane.

Lots of people have told me I'm number one. At least I think that's what they meant.

I have enough of a nightmare concentrating on driving.

Driving, while maintaining an active focus on engine noise and shifting accordingly? CRITICAL ERROR.

This is why I may never drive - CRAP LIKE THIS.

I've observed some fantastically stupid driving near work... U-turns where you have big NO U-TURN signs, cars turning right after signaling a left turn, cars passing school buses which have the stop sign out... brilliant.

(BTW, in Quebec, you do *NOT* want to pass a school bus with the stop sign. That's 9 out of the 12 demerit points you need to get your license revoked.)

People who are in the far left lane at a red light then suddenly make a right hand turn.

Considering I drive 50 miles a day at least to work and I'm in 'The Natural State'...

Yea I do tend to see some less than par drivers. Consistently.

It becomes a second-nature kind of thing that you don't have to think about. Also, I like to think that it's the reason my car doesn't get stolen.

Around here, traffic hasn't been too bad (except the god-awful construction), but I rarely drive more than a mile, and not on any highways (freeways, whatever you call them where you are).

And you'd be right about that in a lot of cases; I'm pretty sure I've read once or twice about a theft that happened halfway but stopped because they didn't know how to drive stick.

Hopefully the thieves around here can look in my window and see the stick before breaking my window or cutting my top.

I really hope I didn't just jinx myself, since my roommate and I were talking about our overdue vehicle registrations, and I got a ticket yesterday for it. It was still the same month! It was parked on my street! You asshole meter cop that got up real close and read the fine print on my sticker!! GRRR....
