Something definitely seems anatomically incorrect about Morrigan in those screens with her artwork...

Make sure you tell me how it is.

I've been eyeing this game. Finally, I'll have some variety in my PS3 library...

Game is due in stock this afternoon at my local GS.

I'll let you guys know later on if it's any good. Expect a lot of inactivity if it is.

We got a call today from the bank notifying us that some strange activity was done on my dad's credit card. My dad actually forgot that he used his credit card to pre-order the game a few weeks ago so it's a good thing that I was there to remind him .

So anyway it sounds like Gamestop has finally shipped it. I'm not sure how long it will take before it arrives because this is the first time that I have pre-ordered a game online .

7 minutes in at 50% installing.

Looks to be a good one...if the impressive intro says enough about the game.

Let me know if any other Disgaea characters are in the game. I already know Etna and Prinny are in the games. I would like to know the significance of other characters as well. Spoilers posted of course.

Depending on how you are with your games, peeps, the learning curve may be a bit steep.

I mean right off the bat. Don't feel bad about taking the easy path at the start of the game, I'll tell you that now. I took Normal and it's bad enough.

It's doable but it's grinding.

Ran into my first bug.

I'll admit it, I got my ass kicked by the Prinny fight. Apparently, many have.

But upon reloading, you get this nice error message upon loading a save:

'A file without an access license has been detected'

It may look like it won't go away, but press X about 20 times and it will work. Apparently an alternative method is to quit the game completely, reload, go in to load the game and it will be fine.

But NISA...NISA...what the hell, seriously? I thought we've been through this with AT2...

If nothing else, since it's the PS3, at least you can patch it.... but yeah, that's not surprising whatsoever.

But what BOGGLES the mind is the simplicity of finding this shit.

It's playtesting. P L A Y T E S T I N G

Something I would kill to do in terms of beta work; it'd never get old unless the game sucked anyways. How can you miss a glaringly obvious thing like this or a game-killing game like the one at the end of Ar Tonelico II? If you play through the game honestly once...ONCE...you can likely find a plethora of things missed.

That's one week (maybe two) for one person most times. That's it.

Well then get a freaking access license already!

Can't comment because I wouldn't know if the bug was in the Japanese version or not or if you're the only one who fell victim to it.

Tell me there's a Hard mode.

Just so I can screw myself real bad.

Also, is it worth it, so far?

There is most assuredly a hard mode...and off the bat (but I like doing Normal, regardless of this fact...because I plow through Hard better on a second playthrough if it's worth it).

And for your question, it is but it's is exceedingly limited at the start. If I expand on the idea this is trying to give me, the system has a lot of room for it to grow into something really fun. Not to mention that ranking system I mentioned earlier that will keep most competitive people occupied more than a genius with a door handle.

However, it's not without its faults and otherwise dull aspects of the game that they've dropped in there. The overworld and dungeon layouts, for instance, are really subpar. The whole object of advancing yourself is to scan every individual area (better if you go to a tower) and unlock more of the story as you progress (with rewards, of course). In that vein, it almost reminds me of Valkyrie Profile with linearity.

The battle system, however, is where it's at. Though you don't get combo-heavy gear right off the bat, you do eventually find your way into it, as well as upgrading it, as well as putting stuff into the item to make it better, as well as putting value into the item which allows it to take much more and...finally...making it to when the item's no longer useful, at maximum it can be converted to an entirely new item.

Also...plethora of unlocks. Just about anything you can think of that can be unlocked from costumes to leveling up attacks over usage to get more attacks, to unlocking team and EX and team EX attacks, to titles and trophies...shit there is a LOT to have fun with. This easily has a lot of stay value for well over your run of the mill RPG.
