It will stay 8388608, because MySQL is smart enough to not roll a counter if you do addition (it also constrains it to max/min instead of just truncating the larger bits).

"Views: a lot" was caused because threads that went over 65,535 got stuck there, and considering I never noticed it was more or less impossible to tell. It doesn't help that I didn't make it an int field (instead of smallint) for however goddamn long.
