I had a couple cases of Dr Pepper in the backseat of my car. Something that's totally safe to do in the winter- but in the summer? Not so much. My brother was sitting back there and just as we got home from Star Trek one of the cans exploded on him

He jumped out of the car screaming and rolled around on the front lawn to get it off his pants. I got out of the car...took a couple steps and then fell over pointing and laughing. It's been a while since I've roflcoptered.

Lesson learned here? Explode boiling hot Dr Pepper on your loved ones. It's hilarious.

If they did they didn't do a good job. My dad used to work for a vending machine company and in many instances came back to a van with a couple of exploded pops on a hot day.

Not sure about the boiling part of it though.

Dr. Pepper (and other products put out by the same culprit) always did seem to be the most frequent explodees.

Best soda explosion I have ever seen was when I worked for a gas station and, of course, we were out on break doing stupid shit (I wasn't, but I watched, so that labels me slacking).

Anyways, some grabbed a bunch of two liters and were spiking them on the pavement out back, figuring it was lul-hilarious because it bounced like a ball off the pavement. Well one such one ended up slamming on the pavement, breaking the cap off and takes off like a fucking rocket into the air, homes down on the fence on the opposite side of the court and broke a hole through it on re-entry to the ground.

I about pissed my pants laughing at it.

Friend of mine threw a soda can at my ex boyfriend's head back in middle school. But I don't think we were together at that point. Either way, it was funny but the can didn't explode.

My dad once tried to help direct my uncle with parking a car filled with god knows what. Long story short a whole lot of arguing and misheard directions later and dad ends up rolling over the hood of the car and off the windshield, gets up, and is hit in the head by the driver's side door upon my uncle getting out to inspect the "trash can" he thought he'd hit.

I might add, I don't think that the cans will explode without any prodding.

Extreme heat + some kind of disturbance of the can (may just be a small shake) = BOOM BOOM CAN

Or if you have cases stacked on top of each other, the added pressure is enough of an impact.

God all the messes I had to clean up when my dad was working that job and I was helping him.

Also, they also explode in the winter, just for different reasons (freezing).

Someone at work put a 2L bottle of Coke in the freezer so that it would be nice and cold. Don't ask why.

Finally goes to get it, lets it thaw out a bit, goes to start drinking and the damn thing explodes all over him and his girlfriend.

Lesson learned.

That kinda reminds me of the tumors we get on the basketballs here, due to them being heated and cooled due to weird weather.

Someone bounced one on a really oddly shaped tumor, and it popped. Scared the shit out of everyone.

If it sounds anything like a bicycle tire exploding, I can see why it would scare the shit out of everyone. Loud as hell. Had a bike tire blow out on me when I was riding once, I thought someone was shooting at me.
