I've been practicing quite a bit lately, I hope that it's enough. The only thing that I'm a little bit nervous about is backing up into a parking space because no matter how much I practice it still seems a bit difficult to me.
How many people here have gotten their drivers license? If you have any suggestions that could possibly help me or others on the test I would love to hear them .

| Just take deep breaths. I would say try to relax, but I had trouble myself with that. Hopefully you'll get someone nice. Some people at the DMV can be real dicks. And did you make an appointment for your test? If not, and even so, make sure to get their as early as possible. The lines are a real pain in the ass.

I made an appointment 2 months ago and today was one of the earliest dates available (I know that it sounds completely ridiculous but it's true ). I've heard that a lot of people at the DMV in my town are mean although I'm hoping that I can just concentrate and do my best. One things that I have mixed feelings about is the fact that it might rain tomorrow. This either means that the tester will either leave some things out of the test or it will make the test 10x harder .

| Get some RainEx and put it on your car just in case. It could make it a tad easier.

I got my license a while ago, before I started college I think. The test was quite easy if you know how to drive well, and the guy giving the test was really nice.
I try to drive as little as possible, though.

Who knows how long until I'm let near a car driver's seat.
Why? Have they seen you play racing games or something?

If the government saw my Gran Turismo play, I'd be barred from driving for life and then some.
I've never actually bothered to... I really don't know why. But I also don't really need a car to get places.

| I didn't get my license until I was 21.
Nowadays I don't drive much.

My parents think that it would be good for me to have my license especially since I will have to drive myself to University in a couple of years. I don't plan on driving very much after I get my license although at least if I ever need it I have it.
My test isn't until 4:30 and so far the rain has held off. It will probably wait until about 4 before it starts .

| It'll rain as soon as you get into your car for the test and it will stop right after it's done.
Something like that happened to me yesterday. I got on my bike to head to work and it started to rain. The rain stopped when I got to work.
Anyway, best of luck to you and make sure that you put on your seat belt, check your mirrors and just take your time with the test.

Got mine first go round without any issues, driven stick since I was 17.
Passed out of Driver's Ed with a C.
Dunno how that adds up but I think the instructor was mental. Aside from me being half-awake bumping into that guy last year (at age 23) I've really had a fairly clean record outside one speeding ticket (in a Neon that wasn't mine). You learn fairly quickly to slow down with the cost and months of probation.
Still, I drive pretty well...and I've never owned a car (at least for very long) that wasn't stick shift and that makes it a greater option for me in terms of getting around and use, especially since the one I have now is an all-wheel drive if I so want it.

So I just got back from practicing for one final hour. It rained pretty hard for about 15 minutes although it wasn't too bad. I have about 20 minutes before I have to leave for the real thing, I'm starting to feel a bit nervous .

Sorry about the delay. I was going to report about what happened right when I got back although I didn't want to make a double post. Then after that I was busy for a while and I wasn't able to access my computer.
But finally now for the result.
...
I passed ! I don't think that I was very far away from failing though (it doesn't take very many mistakes ). The tester told me that I was performing maneuvers to slow (I was nervous, it was better than going too fast ). At least it's over now, thank you everyone for your advice it really helped .

Congrats on passing !
I'll probably never get my license at all, and if I would try, I think I might fail a couple of times before I pass the driving test. |

I could have taken the test for my Learners 6 months ago...
Shows how much I need it. Although you get a Learners, then an N for two years before you can actually get your full license. It's stupid.

Ha, awesome. I remember failing my first time (although I will still say to this day that it wasn't my fault that the instructor didn't notice the car was going 20 over the speed limit), so it's good to hear you got it.

Nothing bad about taking it easy though. It'd be way worse if you were taking it fast, speeding and the like.
Also helps if you've driven quite a bit before the test. I had driven a good sixty miles in one trip for a test by my father while he was lying in the passenger's seat completely gone.
'Yea I'll hear if you're going over the speed limit'.
Thankfully, it was a fairly straight drive from Pekin to Greenview.
