William: Heads up!

William eyed the anvil in the air... then realized it was heading towards him.

William: ...uh...

He threw his sword point down in the ground and held out his arms to catch the anvil, but that didn't do anything to stop it from pummeling him down into the ground. A hole where William once stood and his sword were the only things remaining after the dust cleared up.

A minute later William's hand popped out of the hole and grabbed onto the ground, straining as William pulled his body out of the hole. Marks were on his arms where the anvil made contact. William didn't look up just yet, though. A few drops of blood fell from it.

William: Heh... hehe... heh..

He glanced at Croco with a smirk, a bit of scratches on his face and some slight bleeding coming from the top of his head.

William: Just as planned.

He stood up, wobbling a bit. After all, a revival was not something you got to experience everyday. He picked up his sword from the dirt and wiped his face with tissue he had in his pocket.

William: Finishing blow? Well I doubt that an anvil can keep me down. After all...

He raised his sword back.

William: I am awesome!

He struck forward.

Kattwah watches his lifeshroom float from his bag and dissapate over to the hole where William was crushed. He sighs and shakes his head, clenching his little stub of a fist

Kattwah: "Gah dangit, I was saving that you jerk!"

He reaches into his bag and pulls out his trusty hammer again, running forward to smack Croco in the face

The three Crooks had been defeated, and only a weary Croco stood in front of the four adventurers now...

William refused to succumb to Croco's attack, so it was only fitting that his stab took the last 4 HP from Croco...

Darkdata and Kattwah both held off their final attacks, while Sukasa slept, regaining 3 FP.

The defeated crocodile stumbled backwards, tripping over his bag and falling flat on the ground. Getting up slowly, he tried to get back to his feet, but it proved too difficult to stand without leaning on his bag.

Croco: F-fine then, take yer stupid items! I'm gettin' outta here!

Pulling a Mushroom out of his bag to help give him a little stamina, he grabbed his bag and dashed off into the dark shaft...

...

There was a loud crash from the direction Croco dashed in...

Curious, the four grabbed the dropped torches and followed him. They found the croc rubbing his nose, apparently having run into the wall that he was sitting in front of. When he noticed them, he jumped up and spun around to face them:

Croco: Geez! Can't youse guys leave me alone?!

And making a mighty leap upwards, he grabbed a ledge above the wall and pulled himself up onto it, escaping.

As the four adventurers regrouped, they realized they gained quite a few spoils from the fight: Sukasa regained his stolen Stealing Hand and 2 Syrups, while Darkdata recovered his lost Syrup; William picked up the Black Brace that he had knocked off Croco's wrist, while the other three each found one frog coin lying where Croco's bag was; and a huge shower of SP found its way to the group, giving them 150 SP each!

Looking at the ground near where Croco had run into the wall, they saw a sheet of paper lying in the dirt. It seemed to be torn from a spellbook...

"Healing magic, while known as white magic, can be performed by any mage. All one must do is focus enough magic energy within oneself, and... ... with enough effort, the user will be healed..."

The page was tattered, but it gave enough explanation to allow the four to try to learn healing magic...

Near the edge of the wall Croco jumped over was a small staircase leading up to the top. It was a mystery as to why Croco didn't just use this to get up...

Once the four climbed it, they found another area of the mines, though Croco was nowhere to be found...

Ninetales had immediately tried to run diagnostic data on the Black Brace William had acquired...

Ninetales: Hm... That Black Brace you have there looks very interesting... it reminds me of the badges we used back in the original Pits of Trials. It seems to be an accessory-type item, one of those types of things whose power prevents more than one accessory from being used together. It'll take a full turn to equip it, but that particular brace should completely protect you from critical hits... quite a useful item, if I do say so myself.

(OOC: I couldn't resist adding Accessories to the game...

They really do add a lot more possibilities for things that I couldn't really squeeze out of regular items.

Like Ninetales said, it takes one turn to equip or de-equip one, and you can only have one equipped at a time. There are a lot more to find, too, but they'll all be either expensive or well-hidden, so do your best to look around for them.

William: That's right! You better run!

He took the Black Band and immediately put it on. After it was on he took the piece of tissue and wiped his face again. A bit of the blood from that incident was dried by this time but perhaps there would be water going up the tower.

William: Alright, so...

William grabbed the page of paper and stashed it in his bag. No point in leaving it there when it could prove useful once the tower was conquered.

William: You guys go ahead. I'll guard these stairs in case a crook makes its way back up here.

Seeing as how he couldn't do anything, he sat down on the steps, placing the torch to the side and fiddling with the Black Band.

Heading up the stairs to the upper area of the mineshaft, the four began looking around for some way out of there...

Sukasa found a Mushroom on the ground.

Kattwah found nothing of interest...

William equipped his Black Brace.
(OOC: I mistakenly called this a Black Band earlier... ;; Sorry for the confusion)

Darkdata, putting his newfound healing powers to use, cast a Healing spell on William, helping him regain 6 HP.

The four continue wandering around in the dark shaft...

Sukasa watched a Glumba patrol the square he was preparing to move to. It was making faces at no one in particular...

Kattwah would continue to be depressed by the sheer amount of nothing he found on his square.

William found a leftover Bomb from the battle lying on the ground.

Darkdata found a Mystery capsule lying in the corner of the shaft.
