It's official...my dual-core XP comp is officially 'bucket kicked'.

I'm not exactly sure what the hell happened, but I got a nice light show out of it, a pop (not as strong as a resistor, mind you) and death. In opening it up and looking at the remains, the processor is still intact, the RAM is still intact...everything that has to do with the comp is intact and functioning...

On the board itself, next to the processor socket, there are three block 'boxes' and they're all labeled R60M (about a quarter-inch to half-inch in LWH) that are on the motherboard PCB itself. One has blown, as evidence to black liquid seeping out all over the PCB. Power comes on, nothing else does. No video sync. No nada.

Obviously, this is a motherboard pull...but I would wonder what the hell those R60M boxes are on the motherboard around the socket. Anyone got any clue? Not a pressing issue or anything (or anything I could fix) but it's just post-fatality info I'd like to know...

Inductor...bleh.

Well at least I've got an idea now...probably an over-volt.

Oh it's dead. There's no easy fix to that past buying a new motherboard.

I didn't like this one anyways (Biostar/Mach Speed, bought cheaply, sucked donkey balls). I've got an ASUS M3N78 w/ a Phenom X4 9500 and a GeForce 9800 GTX+ coming in later this week. The rest of my layout in my tower can support this (i.e. I've got 2 6-pin Molex connectors for the card, the wattage is 550, the space is clear for the mobo...just need to buy it, reset/reinstall the system and go).
