I usually hit 4, sometime less, hardly ever more, and if I do I'm dragging the next day. Kinda trained myself to go on little sleep or something which isn't bad, less of my life is being wasted by sleep (granted that's assuming my sleep patterns don't affect my health, my grandma is 80 though and sleeps less then me and claims she always has had a similar sleep schedule).

I usually get around 8 hours of sleep during the week. Less if I stay up late reading. I sleep much more on weekends. Usually around 12 hours.

Me neither. The only times I've been able to sleep while the sun was up, I was too tired to move. (Usually because I was sick.)

I... also tend to sleep far better in sunlight.

It's definitely better for dreams, at least.

I'm a bit like Joe and S.M. with light, if it comes pouring into a room, I'm gonna have to wake up. Though, I've have plenty of experience napping in cars and buses, so my tolerance to light is a little bit better than before.

Though, pretty interesting. I'm a little surprised that not many people seem to prefer 5 hours. Then again, it honestly is a bit of an odd number after all.

Every of us has a ⑨ inside.
----------------------------
It varies, but between all I calculate ~5 hours. I used to try to even them in the weekends, but now I don't even bother with that.

Besides, I am perfectly fine with not much sleep. It was worse last years where I had +6... (it was being phisically awake but not mentally at the mornings in class, so I did stuff but didn't think, and the other way around at the afternoon, when I WANTED to do stuff but couldn't)

NOT OVER YET
I usually nail about five on weekdays (and sometimes I go as low as three, ugh). On weekends, I usually get at least eight--all the way up to twelve.

When it comes to light, there can be faint light (see: now-dead external hard drive; had a button that always flashed white), but anything too light (open blinds and beyond, pretty much; although I can manage with light) and sleep'll become a problem.

Oh, and noise! When I was still an infant, my mom would have me sleep while the radio was on (oldies--lolmotown with a blend of what I now love: classic rock). So now, a constant sound is something I can easily tune out.

Hell, this air "purifier" I turn on during the night actually helps with sleep--dead silence just feels so awkward; like the room is incredibly stuffy and constraining.

I always get 8 hours of sleep. I have to keep myself from getting 9+ all the time.

I don't really have the trouble most people have. Perhaps because I'm caraaaaazy???

It is impossible for me to sleep while it's light out. All I can think about while I'm trying to fall asleep is how many other things I should be doing with my spare time . I have friends that get home from school and go to sleep until the next morning though. I have no idea how they do it .

I voted 5 hours a day. And guess what? I am actually healthy!

Here in the boonies (Georgia) I get a lot of E-mails about computer troubles, so I have to basically get up every morning and work most of the day. But I enjoy doing what I do for 80% less than what Geek squad get's paid. So everyone on my street and beyond loves me to death! Hell, I get a lot of free meals and movie nights! So that is lovely.

However, when I don't work/volunteer. I sleep for about 8-10 hours. It's crazy, I know.

But here soon I am going to have to cut my computer shit off. I am getting a plumbing job that pays like 12 an hour. The work is hard, but the pay is so nice! I am better off than some people in this world. So I feel blessed.

Usually, either none, ~5-6, or 12+.

I have the most fucked-up sleep schedule.

My sleep varies somewhere between 4-7 hours a night and 10-15 hours a night depending on how much of an insomniac I feel like.

I can sleep when it is light, but not during daytime. If you've ever been north of the polar circle during summer (which I bet you haven't...) you would know that it is pretty much daylight 24/7. The sun doesn't get below the horizon, see axial tilt.

So yeah, my sleep is more time dependant then light-dark dependant. I have never been able to sleep during daytime, and yes I have tried. I could never sleep while on/in a moving vehicle. Also, north of the polar circle during winter it gets kind of dark, too. Doesn't make any difference to the sleep schedual.

Lizardking, that must be rather surreal to observe. Same with the lengthy darkness. I'd like to vacation to the Arctic Circle or at least near it to see something like that.

Though, about sleeping and background noise. I'm certainly a fan of having something sounding off in the background and I'm pretty sure there's not a single person on this planet that probably doesn't like the sound of raindrops on the roof while they're sleeping. At least... I THINK there isn't. But yeah, I usually enjoy sleeping with a fan or some kind of consistent, non-disruptive noise in the background. However, don't ever sleep with a fan when you have the flu.

The least amount of sleep I've ever gotten was about 3 hours -- I went to New York City with a friend a couple of weeks ago. The night before I went to Foxwoods before going there. The most amount of sleep I have ever had was about 10 -- sometimes when it's raining outside, I think I need to sleep more and don't want to get up.

The least amount I've slept was about... 1. Granted, I was able to barely function at all. A zombie-like state and I had to help clean up at this party after waking. As soon as I got home and to a bed, I slept an additional 5-6 hours. Don't ever want to do that crap again.

I'll get around 7 hours during the week... it's hard to get out of bed but at the same time I'm not dozing off at work UNLIKE SOME PEOPLE.

If I get too much sleep, I just don't want to get out of bed. And I don't have the luxury of being able to take a 12-hour sleep.

Yeah, I know that "not wanting to get out of bed" feeling. It's a big pain, especially when you wanna wake up a bit early during the weekend. I end up getting 9+ hours when that happens but I guess maybe my body needs it.

It looks like the average is around 6 hours. I had a feeling it would be, interesting to note considering how I've heard everyone should try to get 8 hours of sleep. It's just not possible in this day and age, but I have to wonder why exactly. Too many things to do? Or blasted work schedules butting in on free time..?
