Yea, I'll start.

I remember back around high school that I was messing around with a bunch of the audio cables that were lying around in the house and wondered if there was a way to get better sound out of...well...a Gameboy Color. I grabbed a straight-through 1/8" cable, put a 1/4" adapter on one end, plugged one end into the Gameboy and one end into a guitar amp.

Needless to say, we were out in the country. Neighbors are a quarter mile off. If I would've blared that sucker to 10, they would've been hearing Pokemanz all the way there.

Another case was involving a similar straight through with and RCA end adapter. Put it in a VCR. Hit record. Static readout on the VHS with clear audio coming from the Gameboy.

Both are pretty useless, IMO. Ah the things I did in my free time. :\

That guitar AMP idea seems totally amazing. I should try that with my old Gameboy... Let's hope it works with Gameboy pocket.

I once managed to make my nose sound like an authentic motorcycle, gear switching and all.

Very useless, but damn it was cool.

I have since forgotten how though. : <

It should. Anything that operates in sending output through a 1/8" headphone jack should operate similarly.

Actually, anything with an output of sound should operate similarly, provided you have the necessary straight through cable and plugs on either end.

Hahah...probably the most useless thing I ever learned was how to chop an Atari board in to a 4x4 square. This is what I get for spending my awkward teen years cooking delicious food and looking at electronic hobbyist websites. I suppose it would be handy for making a portable Atari (as the instructor went on to do), buuuut...other than that its just something fun to do just to say "look what I did" :p I don't think I'll be making any more portables any time soon...

I would say almost anything I did in Home Ec in Grade 8.

Reason being that I forgot all the things I ended up doing which makes them not too important. (Seriously, I think the sewing machines we used are antiques now.)

Every of us has a ⑨ inside.

Circuit-bending a... I don't remember the model of keyboard it was. But unless you are into that thing chances are you will only get glitchy sounds.

And a lot of silly things out of paper that actually are ridiculously complex to make. And by that, I mean from your basic planes to a transformer robot thing out of two A4 papers.

Figured out how to make mIRC send HTTP gets to PHP back and forth. It's relatively useless, although making it access a MySQL database is cool.

I also use regexes to edit IRC logs. It's weird.

I've made small songs using my voice as a sample.

And there was that time I record tapes by making a 20 foot long cable from an old Boombox to my PC.

The only thing that I've learned that really falls under the "useless" category is the ability to flip my tongue.

...And even then, it made me quite the spectacle back when I was 6.

Panel de Pon near-mastery, a bunch of other platforming video games including near memorization of The Lost Vikings 1 and 2, and I can't think of anything else.

There's a few people on the board who *wouldn't* consider that to be useless at all. Quite handy, actually.

I have a vast knowledge and understanding of Brown and Sharpe screw machines, which were all but obsolete a decade before I started learning them. I also know g-code, which is somewhat less useless, but I'll probably never use it again. At least I hope not.

I also figured out how to parse and create .torrent files, as well as send requests to bittorrent trackers and parse results. Both of which would be very useful if I intend on making a bittorrent client, but I don't.

I figured out how to play the little finger picking bit at the beginning of "One Last Breath" by Creed. But with the exception of that one part, I hate that song, and really everything else by that band, and I would never actually play the song in public.

I can juggle.

I figured out how to solve a rubik's cube. There's absolutely no point to it, but I can do it and that's what matters.

I can spin any flat \ square object on my finger perfectly. But I can not spin a basketball at all.

It's something weird I learned while I was at school. People always told me I should work at a pizza place because I can do a good job spinning pizzas.

I'll make a video of this if needed be.

E- Made video anyways.

<object width="425" height="344"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/QnU02EeVGSA&hl=en&fs=1&rel=0&color1=0x5d1719&color2=0xcd311b" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Some people find it cool. I think it's just a stupid talent I learned back in like the 5th grade.

I think the most useless thing I have figured out how to do was Calculus. The reason why I emphasize was is because 1) I can't remember what the hell I did in that class anymore and 2) I didn't really have a grasp on that stuff to begin with. I got C+ and D respectively, and an E/F the first time I tried it. Luckily, this university allows a Freshman Forgiveness thing and I was able to retake it without that crappy grade.

Nonetheless, I feel like I wasted my time and my GPA just to learn something I'm never want to use in my lifetime. I think the best lesson I got from it was, "I need a new major... now!"

Yeah, I learned that early enuogh for it not to be a problem.

Changed what I was aiming for from game design to web design. 3D design is all we really get now, anyway, and I'm crap at that...

I figured out how to make a Guitar Hero custom disk.
Before I realized my Rock Band guitar is PC compatible.
