As announced by the official Japanese Pokémon Web site and TV Tokyo's TV program information on Friday, Pokémon Sunday is set to make a "world-exclusive first announcement" in its Pokémon Game Arena segment on May 10.

The most recent episode previewed the annnouncement, showing two balls, one gold and one silver, which will be opened to unveil the announcement's subject. Based on this as well as the fact that the game is said to have been the center of much speculation, many fans believe that the announcement will pertain to two titles: the Pokémon Gold and Silver remakes. It is also theorized that Junichi Masuda will appear on the show to make the announcement, since he did so both last month and the month prior in regard to other game-related scoops.

The next issue of CoroCoro, which will be released May 15, is likely to contain the announcement as well.

So we might be getting remakes of Gold and Silver. Or it could be something completely different? Speculate away!

I would prefer "two" (it's really only one) new games rather then remakes to be honest.

Guess I will just wait and see....

Considering the G/S text already in the Diamond/Pearl ROMs, it wouldn't surprise me (they have data for Pokemon from Johto)

I'm just waiting for the announcement that the games were made 50% slower to account for new and useless animations.

Only 50%?

Considering how slow DS pokemon is already you could probably go get a cup of tea between attacks. Also Lol DS remake of G/S.

I really hope they do a new game though. RBY deserved a remake, but GSC doesn't need one - it aged fine.

I would actually like to see a new Pokemon game but for Wii, done in the traditional style. They could really do something good with it but they just haven't reached their full potential when it comes to Pokemon in 3D. I guess XD was good but the whole Shadow Pokemon idea kept me away from it. Just give me a Pokemon game in 3D that plays like the 2D ones and I'd probably buy it.

Hopefully, I was already losing hope on Nintendo. A Pokemon Gold and Silver remake wasn't exactly what I wanted but it's cool though, those were perhaps the best games of the series.

A Colosseum-like game for the Wii would be good too.

I want a 3D pokemon game that is a bit more action oriented and not animation based. How awesome would it be to run around as pikachu kicking ass and taking names against ginormous pokemon. Running around, attacking and dodging determained through skill and percentages, and not just XX%.

It's a shame, I'd say that Colosseum and XD were far better Pokemon games than Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald as well as being different for a goddamn change. Anyone who wants to actually battle pokemon just uses Sims or whatever anyhow.

I'm actually disappointed it performed so relatively poorly, because it was a step in the right direction - It actually used the new features of Advance Gen. I mean, the game was about double-battling and it was great. Besides, it didn't feel like it was another carbon copy of the previous games...

I remember a long time ago back on NSider before the Wii was released there was a lot of support for a Pokemon MMO that developed in realtime. You would arrive on a continent with a pokemon and could go around battling other trainers and catching pokemon on this vast continent that's newly discovered. The whole MMO aspect would allow for you to battle any trainer that you wanted and allow you to team up with other trainers for travel and battling. It was an interesting idea and I'm surely leaving out a few details since it's been so long since I've thought about the idea but it does sound interesting to me.

I don't think I'd actually buy a remake of Gold/Silver for the same reason I didn't buy the remake of Red/Blue. I played the original and the latest games have all the (non-starter/legendary) Pokemon from the older games anyway. A game for the Wii would be really interesting, though.

As for the D/P is slower thing, that is true, but Platinum version fixed that. (despite having new content )

Platinum is still like half the speed of the slowest game in third gen (Emerald).

At least RBY was fast, GSC was slow, FrLg was fast-ish again and anything DS is pathetic.

I would probably buy a remake of Gold if it came out. Pokemon Gold was probably my most favourite Pokemon game of all time although after I lost my saved data on my GBC cart I never really played it again. This would be perfect for me .

Meh, I'll end up getting Gold if it's remade. I don't like very many other games these days anyway, so I need something else to do.

I'll probably pass up on this.

Because Pokemon games tend to be the same to me: play for a while, get bored after beating the Elite 4 and champion, never touch again.

I mean I love Gold and Silver, especially since they are the longest games and encompass more than that game's area of the world. The later games keep you in that one little region, which disappointed me when I played Ruby/Sapphire the first time after Gold/Silver.

Seeing as I never buy DS games anyway, I'll end up downloading this one.
Gold/Silver were my favorite games of the series.

I'd probably actually bother to pick up a new DS if it was a G/S remake.

Best in the series, hands down.

I just got my hands on colosseum (about god damn time I found a copy) so I have to agree with Xenesis here.
The are indeed a step in the right direction as you have to do some thing new.
Trying to catch another trainers pokemon in a double battle? May sounds lame, but it is really a good (and new) idea.
You have to make sure you don't KO it (as unlike wild pokemons in other games there are not one billion of them.)
Sure if I kill it you get another chance(s) once you beat the "final" boss, but still. This makes at least me think more in each battle, some thing I rarely have to do in a pokemon game anymore.

But that's not all!
Once you get the pokemon you have to get ride of the darkness, not a easy at all......

I can go on, but let's just say I like the new things in the GC games.
But that does not mean I want a "copy" of that game on the WII. I would rather love to see some new ideas instead!

What about a pokemon game in a fantasy setting instead?

[Insert big fantasy pokemon game idea here]

It might sound silly but I would love to see some thing new rather then the same old get 8 badges and beat the E4 to be left with nothing to do but restart. Or if you run the DS games you can't restarts as you might want to be able to play online at one point or another! I see a flaw with only one save file here! :E

If it is in fact a gold/silver remake then we all know nintendo is only milking it. And considering how nintendo loves to milk out their game series I suspect that's exactly what they are doing!

Wow.

I lost faith in the series completely after G/S/C.

If I were ever to pick up a DS again, this would be one of the strong points as to why I would.

EDIT:

Food for thought:

1. Since Gold/Silver/Crystal allowed you to revisit the Kanto region, this could be an excellent opportunity to make the first two generations completely compatible with the new one without the use of a GBA cart.

2. What are the chances of us seeing two new Deoxys forms - Special Atk and Special Def?

3. Will the red Gyarados make a return? This would be great for shiny collectors.
