It's a show about stupid people yelling and fighting with each other over stupid things while getting themselves killed on a boat with heavy equipment. That's all fine and dandy and such, but does this really need to be a show? On Discovery Channel? What's so insightful, educational, and dorky about people trash talking themselves all the time? Gimme my damn Mythbusters, Dirty Jobs, and How It's Made.

Bah, it's bad enough G4 axed Star Trek and TNG and kept the stupid stuff like Codemonkeys and Cops, I'd really rather not have this infectious "stupid" invading what little I have left to watch. I already had my video gaming stolen away from me by the casual market.

I like The Deadliest Catch. What I don't like is all the stupid spin-offs. Lumberjacks, truckers, oil rig workers.

The people on Deadliest Catch know their job is difficult and dangerous, but they don't go on about it, or act like they're "a special breed" because they do that job. They just do their job.

I like the show too. It gets pretty good sometimes.

This is why I just don't watch TV anymore period. I'm sick of everything always catering to the lowest common denominator for the sake of rating. I got to the point where all I was watching was either Star Trek TNG reruns or Food Network, but even it totally disgusts me now. Sure Alton Brown is cool, but he's not enough to get me to watch the whole channel. Like everything else, Food Network succumbed to network decay. It totally sold out and only cares about producing reality tv and other garbage.

The only time I ever watch tv anymore is when I am at my grandma's house or something where there is NOTHING else to do, and even then I usually only watch something like WOSU that is less likely to rot my brain and might actually be interesting on occasion. If I do feel like watching a GOOD TV show, then I will either watch something online that I know is good, buy a box set of my all time favorite shows, (which would include all the Star Trek shows if the price wasn't so damned high,) or download all of my old shows that have long been cancelled and kick the ass out of anything on TV now.

I haven't watched cable or owned it for three years, actually.

Although, ironically, I'm thinking about getting it...but in the sense of homeliness and having people over more than for myself.

I barely watch anything, anymore. Reruns of a few shows, and the few sports games that actually aren't on cable.

I wish I had a decent fucking connection. :/

Dirty Jobs is awesome and Mike Rowe is awesome.

He came to Gainesville to give a speech not far from campus but I didn't really have the time/energy to go, plus the place was probably packed an hour before the start of the event anyway.

Yeah, I figured it'd be easier to just use the internet to watch tv, especially with sites like hulu out there.

I just hate how it has to come to that, that cable is pretty much worthless because nothing I like airs anymore.
