AMD Athlon X2 7850 BLACK EDITION for 69 bucks. An unlocked 2.8GHz dual-core. That's freaking nice at that price for a processor (comparable for Intel run around two or three times that price).

Not to mention that a motherboard that can support that and a Phenom II X4 (if you so chose to upgrade in the near future) put together on that would up your total to around 140 bucks or so. Now you've got the RADEON HD 4770 that came out just the other day retailing at 100 dollars that would be a perfect add-on to that.

You could literally build a simple system with these parts for under 400 or 500, not including the OS...and this would put my dual-core that I've put a lot of money into to absolute shame.

Once again, technology just keeps on getting cheaper and cheaper.

Yeah, I built my comp with cheap AMD parts of yesteryear.

Assuming I ever see dollar bills again something like what you mentioned will probably be a part of my next new computer acquisition.
