Jump to 4:40 and watch before continuing in this thread.

So, when did hell start for you? G4 buying up TechTV and SEGA leaving the console business are two big ones that stand out in my mind.

I love MST3K.

*watches*

Hell started for me tonight. When the writers of Heroes had a chance to make things right. And then they fucked it up.

Also when Sonic shook hands with Mario.

Hell began when it dawned on me that my friend is leaving in four months.
And when Heroes began its downward spiral.

Everybody started drinking bottled water, the SciFi channel started showing wrestling, reality TV, Nickelback, Ford Prefect played by a rapper.

That's all I can think of at the moment. Also, this is one of my favorite episodes. I like how not only did they start yelling "Watch out for snakes" during this episode, but at random moments in other movies as well.

The late Triassic period. This world went to hell when the continents couldn't all live in the same house together.

Oh, recent events? When Tetris games started giving you a hold piece and letting you see the next dozen pieces, or when Mario Sunshine was released, or-

Nope, I have a winner. Brawl release. God damn. Tripping? Really, Sakurai? Barely any attacks keep anyone stunned long enough to combo them, I guess maybe I can understand that as a design philosophy, you wanted to do something different, didn't really know that it would make the game worse. But with that as your philosophy, how do you miss something like DeDeDe chaingrab? As the Kirby guy, are you just living out some power fantasy with Meta Knight?

No L-Cancel? No wavedash? Easy recovery? And the whole point of everything is to make the game FAVOR new players over experienced ones? You wanted it to be like Melee was never competitive?

Fuck you, Sakurai. Fuck you sideways with a beam sword.

Maybe I'm just optimistic, but I don't think it's started for me or ever will. I'm happy.

The rest of the game felt like they took Melee, made the graphics look ever-so-slightly more detailed, slapped in some new characters, added annoying new stages and got rid of all the fun ones. (Temple is frustrating, no Mushroom Kingdom/Subcon fails, and Pokemon Stadium is pointless with Stadium 2 already in... why couldn't we get Fourside instead?)

The issue with SSB:B is actually rather simple: the online sucks and there's no way to patch game-altering hideous errors. And the current batch of errors are generally very cheap rather than the more general Melee ones. So it winds up being more or less totally broken for serious competition.

My personal hell was childhood however, as I had enough brains to say all kinds of neat things but everyone just went 'nobody cares, you're a kid' and then it was okay for other kids to attack me because apparently I had no right to not be punched/kicked. Then when I began punching them back I got in trouble instead.

Of course, this madness all ended once I graduated from high school, so now it isn't really hell, but rather purgatory, as I'm kind of stuck between the remnants/edge of the old hellish stuff and what should be much better stuff that awaits me in the near future.

I'd have to say school is my personal hell. I can't go very well into detail, but it has never been good to or for me.

Aside from that, I'd have to agree on the Super Smash Bros Bawwwwwww issue.

Hell started for me when I decided to do a double major in chemistry. And finished when I graduated. Now it's just the doldrums of unemployment while I try and find a job

Also, despite the glitches and whatnot Brawl does what it does admirably. Then again I'm one of those people who thought that fighting the game through mashing extra buttons all the time was pointless in the first place and may as well have been worked into the game balance at some level rather than pointless extra technical manoeuvres served as an anti-newbie barrier.

Pfft, how exactly does it favour newbies? Experienced players can do all of what's in the game, but better than the newbies can anyhow.

Hell started for me when I took dual qualification. It probably won't bring me anything else than depression (which it is doing right now).

Super Smash Bros. Brawl is enjoyable, but yeah. They screwed up the online, which screwed up the whole gameplay. Then again, it's Nintendo.

I've never had a problem with Friend Codes. They're easy enough to share. Besides, these games are targeted at kids. Would you want your child playing Animal Crossing to befriend anyone they wanted, and several of their friends turned out to be the kind of people who went around town, cutting down all the trees, destroying all the flowers, yelling obscenities over WiiSpeak, and putting down tiles decorated like genitalia?
