I just know it crashes for a lot of people I talk to, and I really prefer Trillian's skinning shit to Pidgin's generic bland black on white interface.

I use Pidgin, myself. I tried out Trillian again a while back, but it crashed whenever I tried to load up MSN. And the interface sucks.

It's funny, because I used to use it religiously back in 2004 or so. Oh well, I guess! :specialed:

Personally I'm the exact opposite. I wouldn't be able to live without the skin Trillian has here.

Especially considering that they take up a lot less space than Pidgin windows do

Well, I mean, for example--I resize a window to my preference in Trillian. And it never remembers my preferences! Everything is in this smashed up window and it's all awkward and oh god I don't even.

I don't think the Trillian theme is bad, but I like how Pidgin just uses default Windows scheming better. What I don't like about it is how it uses GTK and thusforth can crash retardedly sometimes, but you can't win them all.

Sounds like Trillian was just fucked up for you, I guess.

On schemes, normally I'd agree but I have to hand it to Microscopic Pro:

Everything is compact and easy to access without needing to be a 60x60 button with a gigantic smiley face labeled "EMOTICONS".

Wow xK, that is one neat-o scheme. I always liked the dark schemes on trillian. But seen how I am using this new trillian Beta, I can't use it.

Then again I could: Do you have a download link to it?

All I can say is that it's Microscopic Pro.

I wouldn't be surprised if they dropped support for it; the theme is ancient (2002-2003)

I'll look it up and check it out. I have a few friends who could possibly update it if needed be if it's ancient.

Talking to a guy who modded these kinda things. I am just learning this stuff.

I use MirandaIM myself, ever since I got stuck on the win98 comp. It's ridiculously small, yet it doesn't sacrifice anything but fonts and other bullshit like voice/video chat that I can't use anyway.

Then again, I do use the official AIM client for the linked screen names... I tried Trillian but it blew up RO quite badly, and Pidgin's only really good under Linux

When I used to use Trillian I used Aikon 3.

The only problem I had with Trillian is the same thing I have with PidGin now - crashing.

Try using Pidgin sometime. You don't really have to even 'do' anything.

So...

Now that we're talking about IM clients.

Has anyone actually ever used digsby?

The weirdest IM client I've used is nAIM. It's not too bad, but it's definitely different.

Unless you want to count AFKIM (PSP)...

Pidgin user here, and it's crashed less than a handful (<10) of times for me.

Is it only the Windows version that's unstable? Pidgin has never crashed on a Ubuntu install for me. I still don't like it, mainly because I think the IRC support is terrible. The only decent IRC program that I am satisfied with is mIRC.

I've been using an old (old old) version of AIM for as long as I can remember. Sometimes it causes issues with things like direct connecting, but most of the time it's fine. It acts up every once in a while, but again, most of the time it's fine.

I dislike MSN, and I tried trillian once.. it was okay, but I couldn't figure out how to change.. .. something, I don't even remember what, anymore, but I decided that was too annoying. I haven't tried Pidgin.

*Aiya shrugs.

I've never had Pidgin crash on me.

Am I just lucky or is it the benefit of not having a gigantic contact list?

Certain versions of Pidgin are just very prone to crashes for some reason.. I've had a few builds which liked to crash three-four times a day for no apparent reason at all, while the current build I'm using (and one I haven't bothered to upgrade in awhile) hasn't given me any problems at all since I installed it.

*shrugs*
