| So I got an alert that I had a text message while playing L4D. After playing I went to get my phone and it hang while I was walking towards it. Got off the phone and placed it somewhere....somewhere...I can't freaking find it now and I just had it!!!! So I started to look for it....WTF, no where. I did just start a load of laundry so I went to the washer and stuck my hand in the water...didn't feel anything....but I still can't find my phone....

That's a universal sign of 'need to clean the house'.

| So I went over to my backpack that I use for work...maybe I put it in there since I was just by my backpack. Why would I do I put it there is beyond me, but I looked anyway. Nothing. I then glance over at the coffee table and bingo there's my phone, right next to my 360 controller.

Ahhh...
We call that the 'five foot, five second' rule. You ask people where it is? It'll be found either five feet from where you started or in five seconds when you ask it.
This, again, is universal. Very common here at the office.

| Yea, I figured if I posted on it, that I would find it.
Good thing it wasn't in the washer...

Well, if you have insurance...
...well, that wouldn't cover it. :\
Mine's too heavy for me to forget that it's in my pocket so. :\

| Yea, I have insurance...I could just tell them that it was stolen and then I would get it replaced.

You know it's not that simple? You actually have to file a police report on that shit before they'll even process the claim. And good luck doing that third party...you'd have to go to a service corporate store (AT&T, etc.) to do it. :\

| Ummm...no. At least that wasn't the case before. They deactivated my current phone (the one that went missing) and then mailed me a new one. This was a few years ago though.

Huh...someone did that outside of protocol then...because that's how you're supposed to do it or you get written up for that. :\
Oh well...someone might've got reprimanded or lost their job for that.

| Maybe it depends on the carrier? There was also a time when the phone got wet and wasn't working anymore. I reported it and got a new one.

Pretty sure most water damage isn't covered for the carriers I sold for. Unless you were outside of contract terms, that was pretty much you buying a new phone. Only reason I know this is because of the sales rep we had over every month at RS that would constantly remind us the do's and don'ts as well as how you're supposed to take all the orders, what's signed, what paperwork there is...blah blah blah.
But yea...possibly carrier-based...but I doubt it's exceedingly different. :\

| I could have been outside my contract then and they were happy to help because in getting a replacement/new phone I would have to sign another contract. Which is no biggie for me, I've been with the same company since '99.

I had to call mine when it was in the trash once. We almost... actually put it out with the trash. Bags were out and everything, but a late panic saved things.

I can top that a year ago at work...
Girl: Where did my pen go?
Me: I dunno... weren't you just using it?
Girl: I know, it was right here... oh no. Pen and I were so close.(*)
Me: *sees pen* Um... I found it.
Girl: Where?
Me: *points at head as she had her pen clipped to her hair*
Girl: .....fsck.
(*) - Yes, she likes to talk silly sometimes on purpose.

My fiance's phone got sent through the washer and dryer. iPhone. That rather sucked. D:
I misplace things all the time. Half the time I wake up and can't find my glasses, and have to have Chris find them for me. I'm close to blind, so finding them if I don't remember where around the bed I set them down, I can't find them on my own. And of course when I go to sleep, I'm too tired to think to put them in the same place all the time.

Ouch, washing an iPhone...
WOuld it even still work? I know a friend whose phone still worked after it was washed, but that wasn't purely touch-screen operated.
