I have no idea why people always say games like this are the downfall of gaming. If you don't like these kind of games, don't buy them.

The fact that they still make them and they are selling well, proves there is a market for them.

If it helps bring more people into the world of video games it can only be a good thing.

The problem ain't this sort of games being made, it's that the industry spends more development time/money on getting these sort of games released.

Diversity is good, but too much in one end is bad.

I think the issue is that we hardcore gamers, the gaming industry's core base for decades, feel that we're being pushed aside because all of a sudden developers have discovered this new market of casual gamers who will buy these games without taking heed to quality. They discover they no longer have to work hard on games to make money, and instead focus on simpler games with low development costs and are able to earn a quick buck. In the meantime, the hardcore gamer sits on the wayside, hoping and praying for games suited to their tastes. I know that's how I feel about Nintendo recently.

Did any of you even play the first two Cooking Mama games? They were actually really decent games, and I don't know why the "hardcore" scene gets all butthurt over things they don't even bother to give a fair chance (lolz its a cooking game, shovelware)

THAT being said...I was really excited when I saw the gardening one. I know Shigeru Miyamoto has at least mentioned in passing about wanting to make a game that had to do with gardens and the like (which I believe then became Pikmin, yeah), so it looks like someone decided to take that idea and run with it. If executed like the CM games, this could be very enjoyable, fun, and maybe even informative. That ALSO being said... BABYSITTING MAMA?

I really hope they don't take a good thing and run it in to the ground. They need to know when to let a good thing just run its course.

So it doesn't end up like other games.

Yeah, I'm looking at you, Natsume.

It has since the GBA "game"...which has had so many incarnations that Street Fighter 2 became jealous. The only good game of the series to come out in forever was Magic Melody on the GameCube. Nothing else is worth your time unless you like bugs, over-played concepts, typos, and just poor work all around... I'm usually not one to give games such an unfair chance but really... Natsume has disappointed me for a long time now. I heard one of the DS games wasn't terrible but I couldn't be bothered to check.

Indeed he did.

Erika: Natsume hasn't really stood out for me as a third-party developer...like...ever. I've played a few of the games from them outside of Harvest Moon and frankly I'd rather be looking at other nameless companies like Data East or something. I've never really been impressed.
